I think they were made by AC (!) and I remember someone putting one of the single cylinder engines in a Lambretta. Not sure what make of engine though.

Yep, AC Acedes. Early ones had a 200cc Villiers engine, later ones a Puch engine.

My F-i-L used to make the Spacker wagons just up the road in Thundersly.
