TK Max have shelves of Panettone all year round, but twice as much in January.

My Dad used to swap dead pigeons for haircuts at an Italian barbers throughout the year. At Xmas they always gave him a panettone. Until I read some comments on here i used to think he was the only english bloke that ate it! Everyone else seems to hate it?

It never took my fancy, but after another thread earlier this month I thought I'd give it a go, hey we do get 2 free a year, it's alright, I'd sooner a malt loaf or proper fruit cake mind so won't ever be shelling out real money for one

I suspect there's 'industrial panettone' and 'non-industrial panettone'. (I can't imagine industrial production engineers nodding happily at the traditional several days dough proving process). The shelf life of most of it is a bit of a puzzle too as it's, basically, bread. Still like the M&S ones though.

Probably the same thing with amaretti biscuits. Once you've had some 'proper' ones of those there's no going back to the rock hard, dry all the way through stuff that gets cranked out by the tonne - and has a shelf life of millenia.

I'm not much of a dessert person,nor desert for that matter.

The usual choice is,Xmas pud,Trifle,Cheesecake,or jelly and icecream.

I may have them all eventually,but rarely after Xmas dinner. Too busy doing fucking dishes.

This is why KFBs system works perfectly and would be exactly what i'd do if i had my way. Out for dinner, someone else does everything, come back

When our 'rents are dead and gone, that's our plan. That or a 'friendmas' where we all pile in together.

Until then, my mum makes a cracking (not Christmas pud), steamed pudding, and that's become our traditional Christmas dessert.
This year I'm hosting them for the first time ever (just my mum and dad - me and him still do our separate Christmas days, 20 years in ) so fuck knows, I'll probably try to make one for the first time in my life

It's a semi-posh chain steak house.

I've been in a few and some are a lot nicer than others.

The steaks are expensive, but the ribs are on a par price wise with other chains, but much nicer.

Their Long Island Iced Teas are shite.

Nearest are Basingstoke and Reading. Plenty of great places to eat in Newbury (most in walking distance), no need to travel.

I'd never heard of Miller and Carter until they took over a Harvester near us. Pretty good steak house that I always have scallops and sea bass at! Annoyingly only the steaks come with onion loaf which is gorgeous! I like their lettuce wedge with blue cheese dressing on it too!
