Will the extra weight of those electric motors slow it down though?

:D
Deffo, if they mean the car can't be started

Taipan wrote: Tue Mar 25, 2025 7:27 am As this v12 Aventador comes with £10k towards running costs, wouuld you dare take it instead of a cash alternative?
100% not... lol. I'm not sure i'd take it if the cash value was only 50% of the price :D
How £much is the cash alternative? If it was easy to sell on - quickly - I'd think about taking the car and driving it for a couple of days...but probably not if the cash alternative is reasonable.
Cash alternative is much lower than hoped/expected! Had a quick look and I cant find one for under £170k, so even more tempting to take the car and £10k and then sell it on.

Do they give a mileage on it?

Also, I know v little about these competitions, is there any comeback if, eg, you take a car and it turns out to be a complete dog?

Depends on the comp site. Some are very informative about the cars and their history, but Nitrous certainly isn't one of those.

Oh well, for 69p it'd be hard to complain. :D

(Unless you turned down £110k and got a cut and shut  ).

Obviously he fell at the last hurdle, but that's pretty impressive work!

Also looks like he might have some options to get around it, reading the video comments.

As mentioned by @gremlin, it's basically the wild west at the moment. They're not regulated like lotteries etc (yet) so you're on your own by and large.

Most of them are registered as motor traders though and you can put what disclaimer you like on an invoice, but as a trader you cant actually get punters to sign their rights away as they are protected by consumer laws. So not sure what would happen if your win blew itself to pieces within a month? But then a lot of that used to hinge on merchantable quality and I guess at c£10 a ticket...

That's kinda what I mean.

PUNTER: "Sorry car comps firm, but the £200k Lambo I won has blown its engine up! What are you going to about it?"

CAR COMP FIRM: "Sorry to hear that but we take our responsibilities seriously and will offer you a full and unconditional refund of your £10 ticket"!

KIA Sportage GT Line
If you reckon hybrids are just limp-wristed eco-mobiles, the 2024 Kia Sportage GT-Line is here to slap that idea straight out of your head. This NQ5-series Sportage isn’t just a pretty face—it’s packing a 1.6-litre turbocharged hybrid setup pushing 177bhp and a solid 258.3 lb-ft of torque to the front wheels. That means proper shove, especially with peak power arriving at 5,550rpm and max torque at 4,500rpm. It’ll hit 120mph, smash 0-62mph in a brisk 7.7 seconds, and still return decent economy. The 6-speed automatic keeps things silky smooth. Pure Kia slickness—quilted leather, dual 12.3-inch displays, Harman Kardon sound, and enough tech to embarrass most premium brands. It’s sharp, it’s stylish, and it proves hybrids don’t have to be boring.

I don't get it personally.

I'd rather pay a bit more and feel i've got a half decent chance of something. When there's 5 million people in for a prize the odds are very small.

I'd rather be battling 10,000 people for it but paying £10.

Sure i accept someone has to win... but you want to feel like there's a chance.

i mean that one has a 9,999,999 entry... that's just daft IMO.

I'm the other way around.

I generally don't play lotteries or enter raffles because you're almost certainly not going to win. 10,000:1 is still very unlikely! That's less likely that throwing a 6 five times in a row, even though "10,000:1" still seems like OK odds.

I'm happy to throw away 50p on something which is an almost dead cert to not happen, but not a tenner

I know someone wins before anyone says it, but as above, it's very very likely to not be me :D
