Hypothetical thread; New bike time, but what should I buy?

I'm 99.9% sure that as lovely as the Hypermotard is, it's not going to be the bike you want, sorry, need.

Whatever you get, there will be compromises, I've certainly never owned or ridden a bike that doesn't have something I'd like to take away, add or like, don't like about them. I guess that it's finding out what you will or won't live with, then finding the closest bike to that. Unfortunately for most of us, we're not that sensible and buy bikes because our heart rules, rather than our heads. Unless you can have a selection of bikes that covers everything you want to do of course.

No. It was on my wish list at some pint,but I don't like the feel of bigger front wheels. Plus I never hear good things about them?

Bang on. Most of the bikes I've owned have been because they are good at what they do, or I just want one, no matter how impractical it is. I always think if I don't like it, I'll just sell it and get something else, which I normally do!

I am quite surprised, given the nature of the Hypermotard, at how some people on the Ducati forums have them as daily bikes and even tourers. Theres is another version called the Hyperstrada which is basically a touring version of it? But if I'm being honest I can't see me keeping it for too long. I just want it cos it looks so damn good!

They sell enough of them, so there must be something good about them, but this is the first-time I've heard of someone liking them. Even Henry Cole slagged them off.
Bloke at work had one and hated it within weeks and eventually got rid of it after a few months. Dont recall exactly what it was that he didn't like though. Strange though as he keeps bikes for 3 years religiously.
They might be a good call for me, but I cant see anything past the Duc at the moment...

Mate of mine's had an @ since new, must be about 4 years now....loves it! He did the Honda off road school and now does a bit of gentle green laning on it too, I think I've mentioned before that he's ridden from his house in Essex to our place in MK and only used a couple of miles of tarmac road in the process. S'also been on a few organised tours where they ship your bike out somewhere and you ride it back.

Err thanks, I think! I'm not that bad, just got to work on some ligament exercises. Getting my exercise and leccy bicycle out to get some more movement in the knee.I'll take my time and get iyt right. Weather should have broke by then andtheres no shortage of Hypers about.
