There is bound to be some heated debate in a politics section, we're all grown ups and I can handle being insulted.
What I don't like is that it is riddled with low-key hate speech and whipping up of angst. The JRM thread is a perfect example, using footage of a 12yr old boy to whip up hatred of the man. I don't like JRM and I don't like his politics, but the video was only aimed at whipping up hatred.
MPs have been murdered following this type of propaganda, something Cheb pointed out and was moderated for it.
I wonder how things stand if Musk logs on and sees the accusation about him "getting away with stuff", it's potentially libellous.
If we were all grown ups, I wouldn't be in here at all.
This whole area seems to be that, hatred, agenda, etc. It baffles me personally and hence I don't get involved in any way other than as a Mod. I don't do politics, I don't even know who or what JRM is and I don't much care.
If musk logs on, I'm increasing membership cost to £1,000,000 and you can shove the forum up your virtual arses

He's probably a bit busy reading what they're saying about him on twitter.
PS £1M? If you told him £14 billion he'd be in like a shot.
Doubt is not a pleasant condition.
But certainty is an absurd one.

That's the problem with this section, people throw out ill-informed comments that they cannot back up and then an argument ensues when they get called on it and cannot back it up and/or won't admit that they don't know as much as they thought they did.
Nah, the problem is that every post is picked apart in detail for the slightest possible error/thought
Well, that's not a problem, that's having a conversation. Unless we have a select authoritarian few, then be prepared to be asked to elaborate on such statements - otherwise, what is the point in a forum of discussion?
I got outed as an accidental Marxist yesterday, but I didn't go running to mother.
I'm a bit disappointed with Musk. He's had a whole week now to sort out Twitter and unplug the logjam of FBI secrets about Biden. But it's still the same old bollocks as normal.

The way you go through Mountain Bikes that wouldn’t last long
"Of all the stories you told me, which ones were true and which ones weren't?"
"My dear Doctor, they're all true."
"Even the lies?"
"Especially the lies."

Aye, I'd mostly agree. But that's not how it seems at times.
In a discussion, people listen, learn, asses and decide. In these threads everything is set in stone and people mostly just want to tell others how wrong they are. That's when it just becomes spouting opinions rather than a discussion. They're similar but subtly different bases of a theme.
I don't think me or any of the Mods abuse our powers to force opinions or discussion in a direction but we do have to try and stop things falling into anarchy.
Sometimes I question whether I/we are doing it right. But we are trying to.

Well, if you consider, all I did was ask for clarity, not once did I say he was wrong in his view, I don't know the workings of his view, so I wanted clarity, as after clarity, I may share his view. So all I'm saying is, if someone states something, they might get asked something.
Much like if I said the ZX6R is the best bike on the planet, someone may ask me why. Said askee isn't arguing with me, said askee is wanting to know my rationale behind why I said what I did.

So the last 2 pages of this thread has seen people sounding off at me saying that Elon Musk 'gets away with stuff' and even invoking libel laws at one point. I got asked to give an example of that, I gave an example, but the person asking didn't like that one and wanted another one, at which point I lost interest. Everyone knows that Musk is a loose cannon, it's an integral part of his schtick but being the richest man on the planet means that he 'gets away with stuff'. Being a loose cannon also means that sometimes he blows a hole in his own foot, but that's a different story.
And that is my final comment on this little shitstorm in a handbag.

No one sounded off at you, you were asked a question. You gave me an example of him getting away with things, I said he didn't get away with it, he was taken to court. You said he gets away with things, implying more than once he got away with something, you were asked what he got away with and didn't like that you didn't actually know more than one example of something where you think he got away with it.

Of course, as you don't even know what you meant when you said it. To be fair, that became rather apparent very quickly.

These giant globalist financial entities literally rule the world and are, as we speak, putting in place plans for a complete takeover without the need to hide behind democratically elected governments.
Humour me. Tell me what this complete takeover involves?
They gonna have an army? They gonna have a workforce? If so they're gonna need poor people and lots of them because there's gonna be a lot of poor people that ain't gonna like the change. Some of those will have weapons and the giant global financial entities (remind me where their money comes from) are, in reality, quite few in number and won't be able to hide behind democratically elected governments.
Enlighten me.
This is not the thread for it and possibly not even the right forum (ask Weeksy) but "the great reset" is a scheme which the rich and powerful are quite brazen about. It's not as if there's anything anyone can do to stop them so you'll excuse me if I suggest you Google that yourself (I can provide links but those threads get locked).
OK, I googled it. It seems the World Economic Forum (WEF) seems to want to sort out the economic mess following Covid.
I can't see a complete takeover there (but then I'm not a conspiracy theory person) so I may have missed something critical. It seems the WEF was set up in 1971. Are they the Lizards? Probably not as the Lizards must have been around longer but that then calls into question their abilities to control us they're clearly not very good. Maybe the planet is too cold for cold bloodied Lizards - is climate change something they are doing so that they can be a bit more pro-active in a warmer climate?
I still need to be enlightened and subsequently convinced but I doubt anyone on here can actually do that - the people in control will probably stop it dead.
Just to establish a point here. Threads don't get locked because of radical opinions. They get locked when the person calls other people stupid and rams things down throats again and again along with "if you can't see this you're stupid" type comments.
I don't care what people believe, even alien and lizard theories, but don't tell me I'm wrong if I disagree.
It's an opinion, not fact.
Same as all the Biden stuff, it's links and articles from 1 side of a coin, if you only get your opinion from one side, you'll only ever see that side.
This doesn't mean the person getting the opposite side to you is wrong, just wrong to you.
Sometimes I wish some of you lot would understand the difference
A family member once gave me their political opinion on something and I disagreed. The response was "I'll explain again as you don't understand. If you understood, you'd agree with me"
Sometimes these threads read like having a 'discussion' with that family member!!!
