Alpha Racing quick release fuel cap now fitted. The GB racing covers have arrived so that’s the job this weekend if I can be arsed.

Re: S1000RR Sport 2022
GB racing covers now fitted. The fuel cap and the covers have been my first second hand purchase but the deal was too good to pass up on. The cover set alone new is £270 + delivery and the wife had said I’m not taking the bike on track until I have a set fitted.
The set consists of clutch/gearbox cover, alternator cover, pulse/timing cover and water pump cover.
Only thing left that I really want before a track day is the Evotech crash bungs. Then it’ll be track time. Since the bike has been run in the weather here has been crap, I’ve barely been out so hopefully that will soon change.

I was planning on doing that it but was waiting for the pic challenge to be “next to a pool” so I could kill two birds with one stone

Re: S1000RR Sport 2022
Normality has resumed!
The wheelie control settings are very intrusive on the beemer. In the normal riding modes you have Rain, Road, Dynamic and Race. The wheelie control setting for Rain is 3 which is absolutely no wheelie whatsoever, for the other 3 modes the wheelie control setting is 2 which allows small wheelies over crests on the roads, it will lift slightly but it will not allow wheelies at all when you clutch it up, absolutely sweet fuck all.
When you access Ride Mode Pro you can set it up how you like, you can select 1,2,3 or off. I tried it in 1 which allows bigger wheelies but again when you try to clutch it up it barely comes up, it’s very restrictive. It does however allow bigger wheelies over crests when you’re hard on the gas.
When it’s switched off it does exactly what it says on the tin, you can do as you please, no interference at all.

Does it work off the suspension, ie when the front reaches maximum extension?

Re: S1000RR Sport 2022
I think it’s an accumulation of a few things. Wheel sensors and the 6 axis IMU, so that way it allows you to switch wheelie control off but keep traction control on. The early S1000RR you couldn’t have them independent of each other.

Re: S1000RR Sport 2022
Surprised you of all people asked about the wheelie control engineering after that video and not the decision making of a 100 mph wheelie on the wrong side of the road overtaking a moving vehicle while going past a right side junction with an advance hazard warning sign

Re: S1000RR Sport 2022
Riding like a cock on a modern bike is too easy.
Back in the day I had to ride like a cock with only 120bhp and no rider aids.

Re: S1000RR Sport 2022
How good are the brakes? Could you record and post up a 100-0 stop, mid-bend. I'm guessing a tad better than 'Highway Code' distances
[Presumably it has cornering ABS?]

Re: S1000RR Sport 2022
Yes it has cornering abs etc, it has what it calls ABS pro, it has partially interval front and rear braking as well, rear wheel lift etc etc. In ride mode pro you can fine tune these and or switch them off.
The brakes are good, tbh I haven’t even scratched the surface with pushing the bike, braking really hard etc. I’m still getting used to the bike and haven’t had much time where the conditions have been perfect to have a proper play.
A track day is what’s needed, just have to find the time.

Re: S1000RR Sport 2022
I wanted to degrease the chain again, specifically behind the sprocket cover because there was a bit of build up on the chain guide, so I removed the sprocket cover and chain guide allowing me to clean everything. To remove the sprocket cover I have to remove the gear lever and linkage rod.
The rest of the bike was clean but decided to give it the usual treatment after I had done the chain.
The satisfaction of a freshly degreased chain and then some lubrication to keep it looking good. Chain tension is roughly 48mm so within spec but I’ll probably adjust it closer to the bottom end of the spec this week coming.
