You see, despite your insistence that it's Mrs Skub that needs policing, I suspect that it's not the great majority of British people laundering dirty money. I suspect that it's probably a small number of hardened criminals that are the real problem. And I'm just as sure that they have already found ways around having to tell the bank cashier that they're buying a car off ebay.

* How has the situation improved/changed since the legislation came in?
What is the conviction rate and what percentage of those convicted are the man in the street wanting a bit of cash?
How many of those convictions are big business?

You see, for it to be a £25b problem it's either the world and his dog laundering the cost of a car tax disc or a few hundred people laundering millions of drug money. I resent being treated as a probable criminal especially as the real criminals don't give a shit about the petty regulations put on bank tellers and found a way to launder their dirty money a couple of days after the rules came in and are still doing it.

So cost to the country before having to tell the cashier where the money came from or what it's going to be used for and cost to the country now, lots of years after the incredibly efficient and restrictive rules came in? Any idea, gremlin?

By stopping normal people using large amounts of cash the money launderers are easier to pick out, so even though Mrs Skub isn't (allegedly) a criminal she is helping catch criminals by not being white noise in the system.

I can see the point of it but don't agree with banks hiding behind customer welfare to do the government's bidding.

It also helps prevent people being scammed. And lets face it, if a competent adult gets scammed all they have to do is whine loudly to the media and it'll all be the banks fault for not preventing their greed or lust stopping them thinking clearly.

Or maybe that gorgeous 25 year old woman really does fancy overweight balding near pensioners and it's my luck that she found me.

Well yeah...there's more than a grain of truth to this. You expect them to keep your money secure, let you access it anywhere in the world pretty much 24/7 (previously discussed restrictions not withstanding) and refund you when you get scammed via your own mistakes. And you expect them to do all that for free*.

Just changed oil in the Beta and the Husky. Both have drain plugs at side of the sump at the bottom, obviously.

Husky on left so you leave it on sidestand to drain.

Beta on the right so you have to lean it over a bit and wait till your arm/leg ache

I’ve been trying for the best part of two months to get a quote from a builder, any builder for a garage build which has brought my piss temperature up from simmering to boiling today as we’ve just been granted conditional planning permission.

I must have had 10 different firms out, sucking air through their teeth, to look at the job plus some other work and all I’ve had is a shitty texted, back of a fag packet, quote that was around £10k over what could be considered reasonable according to my QS father in law…

Similar position with the new roof on the house, 6 firms out, one guy just looked up at the roof (4 storeys up) then looked at the house, the cars and made an assumption then just blurted out a figure, next quote, £1,000 cheaper actually went away to price materials. Third guy who got the work sent a detailed list of works, suggested adding insulation above sloped ceiling of loft bedrooms as it made sense and took the time to make sure we understood what was involved.

This is Mrs.Skub's project and while I have a passing interest,I'm not directly involved or stressed. We hit it lucky with our builder,he's a conscientious workaholic. It's been 2 weeks since she first rang him,he started work on Tuesday and already the founds are dug and concreted,plus building control have been out and away. I hope it all goes as smoothly.

It's the luck of the draw getting who you need and when you need them. Good luck SC,I hope it works out for ya.

March 2nd - contacted for a quote
March 22nd - visited for quote
July 19th - work started (3 days)
Sept 3rd (yup, today) - work completed (1 day)

This was a small job, done in two stages, took so long because of delay on obtaining materials. Finally in stock Aug 31st.

Getting a quote is just the beginning!

Wifey was a little careless putting the house key in there today, bosh, bloody thing slips of and falls into the void behind the tray, which means we have 2 excitable dogs in the van and a sticky out ashtray.
Actually manage to get home with the thing intact, so now we have a 1/2 hr game of hide and seek with the dash fittings.
