It seems ironic that people can do crazily risky things and come through unscathed and then die doing something fairly innocuous. It seems to happen (or at least make the news) quite often.

I read that he died in the air from a medical emergency and his body flew along for a bit before it came down.

Did you watch the documentary about the space jump thing?

The thing which really struck me was that Baumgartner was terrified of the pressure suit/helmet. He freaked out about having the close fitting helmet on and had to be coached into it. He also needed Joe Kittinger (the previous record holder from the 60s) the verbally 'hand hold' him on the radio during the actual ascent.

I'm not saying this is criticise Baumgartner, I just found it interesting how people can be a total daredevil in one sense but as frail as the rest of us in others.
