Have manufacturers forgotten how to make electric kettles? About a month ago I realised that the switch on my old kettle was a bit dodgy. It still worked but it seemed that it was about to break off. So I ordered a replacement.

In the last month I've sent three faulty Russell Hobbs kettles back to Amazon and today took a faulty De'Longhi kettle back to Argos. Four faulty kettles just to find one that works properly! It shouldn't be that difficult.

You'll be pleased to know that the replacement De'Longhi from Argos appears to be working fine. So far.

Part true.

Branches don't carry a huge cash float, unlike what you see in heist movies, forvthe simple reason that it costs too.much too transport around and insure. Reduces the risk of staff getting a shotgun shoved in their face too.

Plus, there's the risk of money laundering too boot. Skub's missus could be laundering cash by having dirty funds paid into a clean account and taking it as cash. If the bank employee fails to report a suspicion they can end up getting a stripey suntan. Hence, they don't.

As I said, making a large payment via CHAPS or Faster is secure, less effort than traipsing to the bank, gives an audit trail and is more transparent in terms of financial crime. Plus nobody has ever been mugged coming out of a bank for a receipt confirming payment of a few grand.

Men have been making electric kettles* for 130 years. That's more than enough time to perfect the basics. You shouldn't have steam escaping from the lid directly across the handle, you shouldn't have water dripping from the bottom of the kettle on to the base, the lid shouldn't be made of plastic that taints the water. These are things that should have been hard coded into the basic design half a century ago.

It seems that the government that brought all these regulations (probably Bliar's) found it easier to label everyone as a potential or active money launderer than it was to chase the people who were actually laundering money.

Cash of course removes an element of control from governments who have forgotten that they are elected into office to run the country, i.e. work for us, not dictate every aspect of our lives.
