Written all the Confirmation and Baptism Certificates for the Bishop to sign on Saturday. Ordered new pens! Ordered wedding candles.
Had a wedding rehearsal for Friday's Wedding. It just happens to by my wedding anniversary as well!
Contacted companies for quotes for Air Source Heat Pumps for the church hall. The Electric heater side of things is probably too expensive to run long term.
Cooked dinner. Ate dinner. Caught up on admin stuff and got the couples Wedding Document sorted for Friday. They had extra names that were not on their passport/drivers license, but on their birth certificates. So important to get it all down correctly.

Due to the crazy cost of new gear in 2026, I’ve been making my leathers last for as long as possible by cleaning them and applying DucksWax.
Luckily, DucksWax works miracles, but don’t tell anyone
I can’t believe what some some motorcycle clobber costs today. E.g., have you seen how many gloves are priced at over £300 per pair?

Is it any easier to apply than beeswax? It's a proper workout doing a jacket with that stuff, though it seems to do the job. I'd also be keen to avoid stuff that rots the stitching.

Was at a salvage yard this morning looking for a shifter part for my ShitBox Accord & found two ZX11's. I didn't look too close as I'd already disturbed two Rattlers & had a lizard fall on my arm (which is when I damn near filled my drawers).

My mobile number ported over to the new provider. All working well.
Flew to Dublin.
Discovered data roaming is not working, despite the fact it says it is. Confused the people at the provider help desk.
Hopefully I'll wake up tomorrow and some delayed porting stuff will have sorted it

If not, I predict further confused phonecalls. I'd like it sorted before I fly back to the UK tomorrow evening, as I want to make sure it'll work next time I go on hol...

I bet you need to manually set the APNs on the handset.

Starting to get my eye in. I've not shot with an air rifle for a very long time, over 35 years. I had a few plinks in January with by niece's husband and was hitting the targets, so though I'd have a go again. Bought a simple BSA Meteor Evo Silentium with Hawke scopes. 0.177. These are 10m targets, but I've set them some 18m away for the fun of it as my garden is big enough, I can go to about 25m if I wish. A quiet afternoon of plinking clears the mind and allows me to just relax. "Headshot!" from Unreal Tournament echoes in my mind.......
And yes, the grouping could be a lot better. I'm very rusty and need to work on my breathing and trigger control.

Yes, I find DucksWax easy to apply to my leathers (much easier than beeswax!). Check out the reviews for
DucksWax on Amazon.
I presume that it’s fine for stitching, otherwise Brian Sansom wouldn’t sell it as his leather food of choice for bespoke BKS gear.

I'm surprised that rotting of stitching on leathers is a problem with modern kit. Apparently...
...Motorcycle leathers are primarily stitched with heavy-duty bonded nylon or bonded polyester thread
There's not much that will make a mess of nylon (not sure about the polyester).
Hmmm....Wonder what they're 'bonded' with. Maybe that's the weak spot.
I know it used to be a problem with some products and boots but I think the thread used was a more natural stuff back then.

It has never happened with any of my gear,I don't know how much of a thing it still is,though Hideout mention it on their site. Maybe folk just wear new stuff,so it's never an issue. My leather gear has a few years on it now.

Interesting re Hideout. It looks like they used Koch 0.8mm braided polyester thread in other leather products but it's not clear from what I've found about their bike leathers.
Some solvents can swell and weaken some otherwise pretty resistant polymers though.
Can't imagine they use those in most leather treatment products though.

Just returned from a couple of nights away in New Brighton, Wirral. Bit of the world I've never bothered with but I've been pleasantly surprised.
On route stopped at West Kirkby. Nice enough place, lovely walk around the marina and nice cafés.
Up the road a bit, place called Moreton and a lovely cafe near the beach called the Green hut. Well worth a stop and treated ourselves to fish n chips, good size portion.
On to New Brighton. First impressions were a bit iffy, but we found the Mersey side walk (coastal path) and Vale Park was quite nice, few pubs and a few food establishments.
Yesterday we got the bus into Liverpool, never really walked around before. Albert Dock, Mathew st and the beatles stuff. Very nice tbh. Quite busy with shoppers, plenty of refreshments facilities as you'd expect, typical city centre i suppose.
I generally avoid city centres like the plague, but it past a few hour's and I do like a bus trip.
We did see a few tents with dodgy sorts sitting next to and plenty of foreign speakers, the results of multi culturalism i suppose. Also a strong French contingent of PSG supporters, didn't see any mither but we were gone by 4pm.
Thought this was a bit different, the Liverpool mountain.
All in all a very enjoyable couple of days in the Wirral and Liverpool.
Probably never go again mind.

It's my birthday today. Got up, fed the dogs, took the kids to school, walked the dogs, worked from home until 6:00pm. Did pop out at lunchtime and spend some money in the HiFi shop though.
Card's behind the bar, have a pint in me peeps.

Nah, checked them and they'd updated automatically (correctly). No joy this morning, called provider again, got escalated to another team for a call back.
Connected to office WiFi all day today, left the office at 4ish, magic 5G symbol appeared.
So either the escalation team sorted it and didn't tell me, or (I reckon more likely), a batch job somewhere ran 24 hours after the number port.
Either way, it's sorted now

As I stand waiting to board a plane back to the UK

Before the Covid lockdown I'd spend most Saturday's in Liverpool with my boozing mates. If you know where to drink you'll find some good pubs down there (Not Mathews street)
