Horrible day. For some reason, it hit my wife hard today that her Dad is gone. Then we saw the donations page and the tributes to him, and that slayed her. Didn't do me any favours either.

Got the family round tomorrow and it'll be the first family gathering that he won't be at. Her Dads partner and other daughter (Wifes step sister) will be there, so I imagine a few tears will be shed. A bit of a grim induction to the family for my Son's girlfriend! :?

Had a slight error of spacial awareness while cutting up some food & stuck the pointy end of a VERY sharp knife under the side of the pinky fingernail on my left hand.
Did the usual man thing of stuffing the finger in the opposite armpit while grabbing a blue paper shop towel with my right hand. Swapped armpit for paper towel. Will take a look at it in an hour or so. :silent:

bugger.

Was expecting an incredibly boring day (yesterday at least had a bit of physio in the morning!) and I got a call just after 10am from a mate - where are you, can't find anyone to ask and the office is closed!!

He'd only stopped in to see me on the way back from the airport :bblonde: :bblonde: Not only do I have actual Easter chocolate, but he brought me a baseball cap too so now I can sit in the sun for a bit longer even without sunglasses!!

Now to sort out some sun cream and I can be outside more often!!!

Proper cheered up my Sunday it did :) (He's been hospitalised in the past for other stuff - tends not to break himself - and gets that, even speaking French, seeing friends that speak your own language is a real joy :) :) )

Beautifully sunny (if bracing) dog walk round Friston for a couple of hours. Got home, veggies peeled, turkey in the oven and berry crumble (blackberry, gooseberry, redcurrant and black currant) prepared.

Had a bit of a lie down on the bed as the chair is in the sun and I've gotten a bit close to sunburn today - pretty sure it won't burn through the glass, but it makes the hot bits too hot!! So used the time to do a load of the physio exercises and came back to the chair with the blind down to hide some of the sun

Pushed the buzzer to get an ice pack for my knee and the lovely nurse that brought it stopped for a chat (she's one of the gooduns :) ) - she asked why I'm not outside so had to explain that I've got a hat (since this morning) but no sun cream and my skin thinks I'm ginger    I've ordered some SPF50 online but it won't arrive till Weds (maybe tuesday)

Well, she really is lovely - she's offered to bring some in from her home so I can go outside more tomorrow!!!! :bblonde: :bblonde: :bblonde:

Took the side off the bath (it was tiled rather than a pop off panel). Looks like I'll be picking up some floor boards tomorrow. The waste must have been leaking quite a while, its so rotten I'm surprised the bath hadn't fallen through. Strangely no sign of water damage on the ceiling below.

I also need a 22mm valve, I've got plenty of 15mm, but it never occurred to me that the hot bath pipe would be 22mm. Then I can cut all the pipes and caps them off while everything else is fitted.

Took the cover off the BBQ, nearly said fuck it and set fire to it. No matter how clean I put it away it's always minging next spring. Spent and hour with some Astonish over cleaner and the jetwash hooked up to the hot tap and it's ready for use tomorrow.

Went down the pub, had a few pints and watched Leeds beat West Ham. Cooked dinner and I'm now listening to one of my favourite albums through my new class D monoblock amplifiers. It's all a bunch of noise say my two eldest kids...

Isn't it supposed to be the parents who say 'it's just noise'? 😆

Today I have repaired/replaced a couple of floorboards - one of which Muz put his foot through a few days ago. Stupid antique woodworm.

He’s not that old… :D

I’ve cut the lawns, after spending an hour trying and failing to get the petrol mower to run, it’d start after being primed but then stall and not restart. Float bowl drained, entire carb off, float bowl drained, cleaned out and reinstalled. I’m guessing it’s a starvation issue :wtf: I ended up dragging out the tiny electric which took three passes to get the lawn how I wanted.

Then travelled to the local garden centre, emptied my wallet in exchange for a bay tree / bush, three types of thyme, three types of mint and two types of rosemary plus a load of all purpose compost (which I over estimated by 100%) to put them all in tubs. All now planted and watered in.

Surplus compost will go into a couple of pots for next to the front door, goodness knows what I’ll put in them though…

Sat in the garden listening to the bikes heading to and from Southend for the shakedown. Sounds like a great turnout!! We were going to go (by train), but feel a bit hungover from yesterday's festivities.

Tip run, first clean of the pool for the year along with a big dose of chemicals. Nice lunch and now watching TV with some vino.

By the sounds of it, the southend shakedown was a big success. I've been hearing bikes all day long!

Had a 29 mile pedal with Lady D. Pub lunch sat outside in the sun. Tuna melt with chips, bit too much really when pedalling still to be done. Very nice all the same. 🌞👍

I have also mowed, and hedge trimmed with gay abandon. The garden is looking rather well clipped 🤣

Removed the bathroom suite, capped off all the pipes with valves, ripped up some rotten floorboards and replaced.

The floorboards required far too much time and swearing.

Oh yeah, the reason for the replacement boards, looks like the waste for the bath was a bit leaky...

And presumably the bathroom refurbishment will be completed in the same time scale as the Iran conflict? (i.e. nobody really knows at the moment?). :D
