Got a PCN for the ULEZ. Took my daughter to play a football match last Sunday, completely overlooked the fact that Twickenham is in the charge zone. Ninety fucking quid. Ouch.

Went for a walk at lunchtime. The apricity of a sunny day helped migrate the misery of a long, damp winter!

Got to the F’s, cashed in some Origin Panel points and went to Toby, which was nice and only cost me a fiver. Got back, sat in the sun with a bottle of red.
Lovely day to not be at work

My local ones are a mixed bag, The Sheffield city centre one has nicer decor and a more premium feel, the Doncaster one has nicer staff and better prepared food.Sunny wrote: Tue Mar 17, 2026 7:56 pm Decided to try a Miller and Carter on a whim. Currently awaiting food...
I've never actually had a steak, I always have the ribs.

Rolled GPz11 out of the garage, drained/removed tank, pushed it back into the garage & decided that was enough for today in 91deg heat.

Rode the bike to multiple places for meetings and pastoral visits etc. What a joy to be out on the Triple. Just put a big grin on my face. I've found out that I am taking on more responsibility within the Deanery, and possibly more than I had initially anticipated. But that is hopefully manageable if I get some admin help!

I'm feeling a bit humbled, as I've become a bit of a steak snob over recent years, but the steak I had tonight was genuinely as good as a Goodmans/Blacklock/Hawksmoor, which I was 100% not expecting.KungFooBob wrote: Tue Mar 17, 2026 7:59 pmMy local ones are a mixed bag, The Sheffield city centre one has nicer decor and a more premium feel, the Doncaster one has nicer staff and better prepared food.Sunny wrote: Tue Mar 17, 2026 7:56 pm Decided to try a Miller and Carter on a whim. Not the same variety of choice, but I don't care if they have nice things. It cost pretty much the same, mind!
Decor and service both acceptable. And it's not far away. So I suspect I may become a regular visitor as decent independentish local steak places don't exist round these parts.
Time to check out M&B shareholder discount options I reckon!

Wore my new Shoei open face this morning- Thought I had a Steve McQueen thing going on.
Got to work and realised I was at best Wallace and Gromitt
Comfortable and I do love an open face for town riding.

Popped out to do a few errands and stopped for a coffee, but was tempted by a slab of bread pudding the size of a house brick.
Bloody lovely, sat in the sunshine.

It was offered warm with clotted cream, but I took like a man and had it as it comes with a poncy coffee.Yorick wrote: Wed Mar 18, 2026 1:49 pmHope you had custard with it ? Re: What have you done today thread?
My experience is the same as KFB, the one nearest to me is poor and repeatably so, I’ve tried a couple of times, hoping the poor service and food was a one off, it wasn’t. However the one in Newcastle city centre has been excellent on every occasion I’ve been.Sunny wrote: Wed Mar 18, 2026 12:03 amI'm feeling a bit humbled, as I've become a bit of a steak snob over recent years, but the steak I had tonight was genuinely as good as a Goodmans/Blacklock/Hawksmoor, which I was 100% not expecting.KungFooBob wrote: Tue Mar 17, 2026 7:59 pmMy local ones are a mixed bag, The Sheffield city centre one has nicer decor and a more premium feel, the Doncaster one has nicer staff and better prepared food.Sunny wrote: Tue Mar 17, 2026 7:56 pm Decided to try a Miller and Carter on a whim. Washed both the Ed80 and the car, sorry in advance for tomorrow's freak weather over Sussex/Hampshire.

Took the male pupster to dog school last night. In amazing display of bravado/stupidity he decided he was going to have a go at a Cane Corso.
