We have a cool map of the islands on the patio wall. But always been spoilt by a rocker switch and timer for the patio lights. So I decided to eliminate the rocker switch and move the timer.
I am complete novice when it comes to leccy, but it's all quite logical when just moving stuff and extending wires.
What can possibly go wrong ? :D

Been busy. In my footy pub the owner has a cool wooden map of the island on the wall. Wanted to copy it for Pen's birthday next week
So went this morning and copied outline to board i had just bought

All cut, smoothed and finished. Now experimenting with different stains to use.

I put the toy car’s battery on charge first thing, ready to take for a shakedown drive ahead of its MOT in a couple of weeks time, I can’t imagine anything being awry as it hasn’t done many miles since its service last year. I’m considering whether to keep it given the minor amount of use it gets…

Trip to the office to say goodbye to my PA who has decided after a career in the industry she’s had enough so is effectively retiring, well unless a part time job that takes her fancy comes along. I took her some flowers, a card and treated her to lunch, it’s the least I could do given how much she’s helped me over the last year.

Last night heard a good pals died at 60 on Monday from ruptured aorta. Top lad retired in France with everything he wanted

Today an old pal found me. Anyone remember Alf_Huker from Visordown?

Had some giggles today catching up.
Got it wrong. Was 56 :(

A few of us wanted to go over for funeral but no hotels or B&Bs available.

But his widow has sent the order of service and tributes to be read out

Service starts now :(

Today in pictures !!! (put a woolley on if you aren't keen on snow!!)

Image

Sunrise from an empty piste :) :)

We really didn't walk as far as I'd planned as it turns out I am soooooo unfit :( :( and yes, my mate is a boarder. Although like me she does both - only she's still allowed to do both, I've been banned from boarding :( :( But damn it's good to be up there with a mate and no one else!!

Image

The emotional support turtle joined us to toast my mate Ant that died last Friday - genepi for toasting life :obscene-drinkingcheers:

Image

Someone else was touring up, with their dog! The dog was in heaven!! Apparently a LOT of smells on the piste and then she started rolling in the snow

Image

Image

Then I decided to ski back to the car!! In February     Took a stop at the top of the mountain for a courage giving crepe and another coffee!! Along with Turtley :)

Image

Image

And I got to see the Piste Badgers at the edge of their nest

Image

Then I came home, baked stuff for tomorrow and chilled out in the sun in the garden!!

Image

Baking was shortbread (because all the guys at Lyon airport bloody love that!) and ginger cake (cos brownies are too expensive to bake often and they'll all be silly about me making ginger cake    )

Off to bed in a mo cos I'm getting up at 3:15 tomorrow!!

Been to pick up a treadmill with a mate in his son’s Chinese electric hi-top LWB van, it appears to be very well put together and serves the son well for his DPD franchise.

Base coat plastered around the back door having stripped out the blown plaster, hopefully I’ll get around to patch skimming to tomorrow

I managed to sit on my glasses the other day, bending an arm mount and chipping both lenses (FFS!), so headed to the ‘factory’ shop style place I got them from, they have kindly offered a significant discount, 10% back from previous pair + 10% off new frames + 50% off lenses, against a new pair which means I saved around a 1/3rd and the net cost was only £70 extra compared to my household insurance excess.

I have found an ex-display set of the damaged frames on eBay for less than £30 so will transfer the lenses over to them for a spare pair

Been for a boozy afternoon in Barnsley town centre.

The wife found an original copy of UB40's first album 'Signing off' in a 2nd hand record shop for £8 and I'm know listening with a Sexton single malt in hand.

I bought a £325 Paul Smith cardigan too.

There was 60% off the cardigan. I'd never spend that much on on knitwear :)

I've never heard any of these UB40 tracks before, but it's proper chilled out relaxing stuff. I could be a convert (I had to take Judas Priest's British Steel off the record player to put UB40 on.

I'm not sure the 60% off helps your cause here.

It's just as well he missed the sale at John Smedley - last seen offer was 70% off.

Yesterday. Spent several hours shoulder-deep in the toilet recess of the Thetford cassette toilet of the ‘van, whose electric flush didn’t. Trying to find and remove 4 screws holding the mech, using a mirror arm length in. It contains 2 micro switches, one of which is likely to be faulty, and they’re unobtainable. Replacement was 4 times as difficult as removal.

It seems that the fault lies elsewhere. I should be pleased, but…

Knees hurt from hours of kneeling, neck hurts from hours of looking in, eyes hurt from hours of squinting, arms are showing big blue weals as I’m on blood thinners. At least I didn’t have to pay somebody else to tell me there was nothing wrong in there.

My father-in-law died today. A wonderful man and as much of a best friend to me as a f-i-l. He drove everything, cars, lorries, tractors and rode bikes to Africa and back and flew everywhere in his planes too. For a man with no formal education or training , he could engineer and fabricate just about anything! A fearless and honourable man and a good bloke to have in your corner. He'll be sorely missed, but it was his time to go!

Cheers Roysie! :obscene-drinkingcheers:
