Started a small maintenance job this morning, now waiting for the wood to dry thoroughly before tyhe next stage. This afternoon I have a disciplinary panel hearing for a teacher who was either very stupid, very niaive, or both.

Ooh. Finished it a while ago and it's settling down nowYorick wrote: Fri Oct 31, 2025 4:45 pmAbout a third done. . Arm aching so beer break. Shitty painter did side of house and it all came up so had to take it back to the concrete. Bloody hard work
Today just applied primer to rear. I'd filled the cracks previously.

The 2 pack primer just for this area was 75€. Might as well do it properly
.
Was hard work as bastard 30c today. Had to wait till sun went behind house or i would have been blinded by the reflection![]()

Enough paint to cover another third
Just that much top coat was 110€

Re: What have you done today thread?
Got the news that our friends' dad had succumbed to cancer. Lovely bloke, ex-copper, gentle giant. Was into his military history and would always sidle up to me at family gatherings and ask things like, 'Have you read so-and-so's book on Market Garden? Bloody good read...' and we would talk for ages about the merits of this strategy, that weapon, general von sauerkraut's failings, etc. His knowledge was encyclopedic, but he was always gracious enough to listen to my amateur musings and would nod and feign interest at my disclosing of snippets of info I'm sure he knew anyway. We swapped many a book and he would always comment that any book I'd lent him was 'a bloody good read'.

Soggy and muddy dog walk. Off to the tyre shop this afternoon to replace the least worn tyre on the car after it picked up a screw in the outer tread block.

Got a new bank card so went out to buy something on CHIP & PIN to activate the contactless. Three incorrect attempts later and now the new card is locked and I have three bags of Co-op cookies on my desk.

Re: What have you done today thread?
I worked for three hours this morning (really need to get the timesheet back as put it in the box after work yesterday!! but forgot to take a pic to work out my hours!!) - anyway, it included getting some info on routes for this Saturday as I'm expecting to go to Lyon and expecting the traffic to be a bit bad, first week of the French holidays
Local ones this week, so hopefully not too bad, but still, not gonna be amazing on the roads
THEN -
I had an almost Three Hour ski lesson !!!
Holey crap my legs, feet and back hurt !!!
But, I think I do have more confidence - it's not that I can't ski, it's more that I lost all my confidence after the moto crash, cycle crash and ski crash !!!
Some stuff he was teaching is stuff I did know but wasn't practicing - but there was stuff that I don't think I ever knew which is why my feet hurt!! Who knew you use your feet sooooooo much to turn the ski onto the edge ?? I mean, it is obvious in a way, and I have done it, but the outside of your foot as well ??? Damn, I ACHE !!!!
I need to find a home one day with a big BATH - in all honesty I don't really enjoy a soak in a bath for any length of time. But when I feel like this a "hot as I can cope with" soak until its only warm, then curl up on a sofa!!
Now I'm trying to stay awake long enough to watch the first match of the 6 Nations (whilst slightly sulking that I didn't realise early enough that the first match was a Thursday, And in Paris; so I could have got tickets and a train to go see it

Re: What have you done today thread?
Morning service, pastoral chat, then lunch with daughter. Out to another two pastoral visits, I think I'll be taking a funeral for the one later this year as the dear lady is declining rather quickly. Back home to fetch the wife from the station, collect her parcel from InPost box, then home to cook dinner. Out for the Deanery Synod meeting this evening at 7.30pm, managed to wrap it up in 90 minutes, a new record!! Home to do some admin, letters and emails. Just finished at 9.30pm. Time for bed.

Went to step f-i-l as it was the first anniversary of my m-i-l passing. Not quite sure why the day wants remembering really, as it just seems to upset everyone, but nice to remember her in better times I suppose?
Re: What have you done today thread?
Clearing ground, levelling and laying base for new 10x15ft workshop/shed, which has arrived but the missus is busy doing a speed awareness course so will have to wait until tomorrow.

Read a few articles about Bad Bunny's awesome Super Bowl halftime show whilst all the time thinking, 'I have no fucking clue who he is...'

Attended the first session of an AI course for building custom agents. Yawn. Bought some new pedals and a waterproof coat as the new MTB arrives tomorrow. Yay!

Zombie day after my last night shift. Mundane housework tasks and then a dog walk.

Re: What have you done today thread?
I may have to disown my sister... During a WhatsApp convo on Sunday she asked for a pic of my bikes...
I sent her this one:
Today I get an email:
"Looking very nice. What make is the green bike?"
& no, she wasn't being sarcastic.
