Should be in bed and trying to sleep now. But am going through a folder of my BDad’s
This is so cool to find. William HOBDEN was my Dads dad. Born in the late 1800’s. Signed up to the navy for WW1 underage
And went to school before that, as the certificate confirms

More yesterday:
Church Service followed by our Remembrance Day Service at the local war memorial. We had around 400+ locals, dignitaries, MP, Deputy Lieutenant of Kent, Deputy Mayor, Councillors, uniformed groups, veterans and Royal British Legion representatives. It was an excellent service with much honour and dignity on display. A very large number of people stayed on to enjoy refreshments, to be in the church and to enjoy fellowship. Had some excellent conversations with veterans and spent time with many different people.
I will be at the War Memorial at 11am tomorrow in robes to pray and give respect to the fallen who gave their tomorrows for our todays.

I don't know (can't remember) how much is done on the 11th. Here we don't do the weekend nearest, the 11th is a bank holiday and we remember on the 11th.
Double edged for me - the 11th is also the day we had my fathers funeral. But I always try and go to the memorial rather than being on my own because he was ex Army (REME) and his Dad was in both WWs !!
Need to try and find a cornflower to go with my poppy and head out tomorrow for remembrance

Spend the day working for a German builder. Slathered wood preservative around the place, cleaned adhesive from some used floor tiles, pressure washed a trailer, made a bonfire with some hedge trimmings and part cut a 5m piece of box section steel into 2 U sections.
And they want me back tomorrow.

Had my second cataract op this morning. Arrived at 9.30, spent a while having drops put in my eyes, then into theatre at 10.50, out at 11.05 all done and dusted. One surgeon in this centre does 14 each day, that’s 70 a week. Amazing numbers being done …that means amazing numbers of people with iffy eyesight!

Our family has two certificates for Perfect Attendance for an entire term/semester. One earned by my grandfather who was born in 1896 & the second for my daughter who was born 101 years later...

I washed the SBH!!.. & also reattached the panel below the glovebox that came adrift a year ago (maybe longer).
Also ordered a cover for it as it sits outside, gets wet from the neighbors sprinklers & then the desert dust sticks to it giving it the appearance of having just done the Paris-Dakar.

Lean into it: few stickers, knobbly tyres...

I went to the Remembrance Ceremony in Aime this morning. First time I've been to one here. It was good.
Interestingly I stood behind a man wearing a green beret. His dog was obviously a rescue and not good with clapping and other noises. I was sure the beret was not a French one !
As we were leaving, I asked to talk to the dog and we got chatting - he's ex marines now living up in Plagne Centre. I was wearing my TT jacket so we talked motorbikes, learning French, moving countries, partners that do or don't speak English!! And work!! LOL
Then went up to resort to see some english friends.
Not a bad day - got to remember my BDad a bit as well

Had to pull our hydrophobic dog out of a canal.
Usually, she tiptoes around puddles, but today, she ran down the wall, and just....... jumped
Fuckwit!!!!!

Technically yesterday, but I've had a late night:
Went to a gig
Off his face bloke decided to grab a boob
After peeling his hand off said boob, instead of my standard 'bend finger back' approach, I impulsively bit a finger (on reflection, it was because he came at me front-on, when usually it's a sneaky grope from the rear)
He was NOT happy
He proceeded to repeatedly attempt to drop kick me in the leg from behind - fucking coward - whenever the mosh got a bit exuberant
I kept laughing at him when he failed
In the final song of the gig he finally got a good one in the back of my knee and floored me
I removed myself from the floor, turned around, found him and shouted 'I'm going to have you, you little cunt' in his face, before plunging back into the mosh for the rest of the song
When the song, and gig, finished, I turned around all amped up ready to fucking fight him, and he'd legged it
Just as well I suppose, but what a little incel coward. Couldn't even face a girl head on. Nobber.

Had the urge to grab some dinner at Carl's Jr. Trip to the local one was stymied by a car wreck that closed 7 lanes half way there, cops, FD & paramedics all over. Luckily there's another Carl's about a mile North, so now sat stuffing my face with a Triple El Diablo...
