Put the last 5 bottles of cider in the fridge, so it'll official be winter in 2.5 weeks time

@Taff has blown one of them out of the water, so to speak... but that's a good thing as he has more knowledge than me.

Don't forget big garage, private garden and a downstairs bog for when you're an old fart. 👍
The ones on list have those yes, as well as miles of woods nearby

Oh..and a log burner. 👍

I do, however the crappy timings for my early morning trains mean a 30 minute dwell/change time at Lewes (I hate sitting around on cold stations) if I get in for a sensible/polite time for change over or a just in time train that is sometimes the just too late train. Hence the ride to Lewes to meet the train to work.

Bizarre old BR t's&c's mean I get free travel to work (taxable perk) up to 40 miles in the SE and 14 odd free trips anywhere in the country a year (wife gets those as well +kids up to 16 if we had them). Oddly, my house keeper if I had one, would also get the free trips as well. Also get 1/4 rate priv travel if I don't want to utilise my free trips and I can use my work travel pass to bail out/get on at any station along my route to work.

During the enduro ride i decided to look at (tiny) speedo.

Was showing 70k on deep fresh sand in the desert, which was a bit scary :obscene-birdiedoublered:

Then 90k on loose dirt path with both wheels loose. Fun :D

Then tumbled off at walking pace over rocks. Fell downhill and gravity won.
It was a good 10 minutes winded and wounded. :(

Nothing permanent thank God as miles away from civilisation.

Just another typical ride :obscene-birdiedoublered:

Off road Rule 1 : never ride alone.

I have no off road mates, I think I'm going to buy a trials bike next year though.

Not much, nor yesterday. Its nice to get visitors, but when you only have a weekend to do stuff, they do mess up your plans! One day i'll finish this decking, just not sure what year that day is going to be in!

This was last weekend - driving a HOOOGE bus double manning with my chap and four coaches !! We were escorted to the Nice football stadium under blue lights, cars and bikes clearing the motorway for us!!!

There were three double deckers and one single !! But, the passengers were essentially football hooligans :( :(

Image

It was a little over 14m long and 4m high, double decker   He didn't tell me we were driving something that size before I got there and saw them

Image

We did only have 50 passengers, fully loaded it would be even more interesting !! LOL

Image

Some interesting road signs - nice grass made me laugh a lot !!

Image

Mougins made me laugh too for some reason!!

Image

We met the escort (lots of cars and bikes!!) at the last toll booths before Nice and were escorted the rest of the way

Image

Tried to get a film of the police motos overtaking as one of them was much more spirited than the others, but he cheated and missed most of the trafic by cutting in from the right

They basically kept the middle lane clear for us !!! But it is incredible just how many car drivers will ignore all the blue lights and try and use the areas that are blocked off

Image

Image

The CRS are the riot police. I've never been escorted anywhere under blue lights and then when we arrived at the stadium, riot police!!! Had my third ever panic attack in the parking under the stadium as the hooligans were being unloaded by the riot police!! Luckily not a major one but a bit 'interesting' !!!

Image

Not a huge amount of clearance for the coaches!!  Luckily he did the parking as the police made us repark it about 4 times!!!!

Image

Then the return, again we were escorted in the dark to get us awau from Nice !!! Never realised the French fans had a rep as hooligans as well !!!

Lucky that it was double manned, we didn't need much extra driving time - just sad that I was 2 hours from the meet point!! So I got up at 3.30 Saturday morning, left at 4.30 to meet J for 6.30   We met the others at the coaches at 7.30 and set off soon after.

We got back to Lyon at about 3.15 Sunday morning    Sadly the 'jump' seat in the front was not remotely comfy for a snooze, so I was awake for 24hours and then had to drive home !!  I got home at 7.30 cos I had to stop attempt some snoozes - total fail on that :( :( !!

Luckily he did the last 2 sections of driving so I wasn't needed to drive whilst over tired !!!

Excellent experience - and a couple of friends have been in touch to suggest talking to a company that does tour buses (gurtly big luxury double deckers), so will get in touch with them in January and see if that might work !!   Hopefully, after a winter driving on snowy mountain roads I might get do drive big luxe buses !!!

Managed to get to the Ardingly classic bike auto jumble today, picked up a copy of Tuning for Speed, a trio of pliers, and a very good condition used Concentric/Premier for 40 quid, every other one i saw was knackered and double the price. It's obviously going to have something fundamentally wrong with it. :D

Jacked up the SBH, removed all 4 wheels, inspected brakes, discovered loose plastic doodad in L/R wheel arch, pushed it back in place*, cleaned wheels, reinstalled them, dropped SBH back on the ground, torqued lugnuts.

*may have cured odd noise when turning right.

Hornets are quite large and have a big stinger but are not generally aggressive so I guess the one that stung me on my little finger (yesterday) was just defending himself. We both survived the encounter but jeez, the sting was painful and my finger is swollen, still sore and is developing some funny lumps around the sting site.

Picked up a letter from the PTT this morning - the DWP want proof I'm still alive so they can keep paying my pension. I'll need an extra pension payment to pay the witness to my declaration!
