BLIMEY STURMEY ARCHER GEARBOXES
That is just too damn spooky. 2 minutes ago I was stretched out on the floor trying to ease my back and having nothing better to ponder than why Sturmey Archer hub type gears (which are absolutely genius) were never scaled up for bigger applications.

I know thats not what's going on here but to open this and find Sturmey Archer writ large is a bit

The Guzzi V8 (W8?) GP bike was only 500cc. (iirc)

That's an awful lot of metal for not a lot of cc. Must be somewhere on the limit for diminishing returns power/weight-wise. Perhaps it was a 'cos we can' exercise.

I used to work with a chap called 'Johnny' Johnson (they knew how to make nicknames back then). He had been a designer for Connaught. The boss was involved in a class of racing where cars were limited to 500cc engines. The Norton single was preferred.

Boss came up with the idea of a 10 cylinder engine based on 10 miniature Norton barrels and heads. They got as far as a prototype.

The hub gears were scaled up for motorcycles, in veteran days. http://www.go-faster.com/VeteranMotorcycleHubGears.html

The Sturmey Archer “real gearbox” ended up as the Norton Gearbox.

Not a bad looker at all IMO and sounds lovely, but I think it's the sales pitch rather than the bike itself that is interesting- that and the blokes helmet made me smile anyway :)

CARBON NEUTRAL HONDA HORNET £11950

For sale is this custom cafe racer based off of a 2005 Honda CB600F Hornet, named 'Cuckoo' after the infamous cuckoo wasp, that has taken over a year to build, and comes with some unique eco-friendly features as well as a lot of custom fabrication and parts.

Eco-friendly features:

It has a plant-based/animal-free cork leather seat (with a removable cowl for passengers) and hand grips made in collaboration with the fantastic guys at Corkor
The custom fuel tank badges and Quadlock phone mount were laser-cut out of second-hand aluminium off-cuts (spare material from the most eco-friendly metal available)
The decals on the motorbike and AGV Helmet were produced from spare off-cut PVC-free 3M vinyl
It has been calculated that this bike will produce just under 23 tonnes of Co2 over the course of 1,000,000 kilometres, so the builder has donated to a charity called Team Trees in order to help plant over 100 trees to offset this, essentially making the bike “carbon-neutral” for that distance
Video of bike:........

Browsing through the others on there, the prices that are being asked for what, on the face of it, are complete stinkers I also found interesting- maybe people do pay it though I guess- The XS750 based PoS was my particular favourite in this respect
