Noggin wrote: Sat Jan 02, 2021 8:40 pm Just done the online application for the residency permit/card for France. Been putting it off as I hate doing that sort of admin. But, hopefully they'll allow me to continue living here!!

Either that or I need the Irish Certificate of Foreign Birth to come through asap so I can get an Irish Passport!!

Either option will do!! LOL :?
I've got Spanish residency now. But there were a lot of scare storied when Brexit was voted in, so I enquired and was entitled to a Paddy Passport :)
On paper, I am too, but not counting on it until I have it in my sticky mitt!!

In theory, I can get residency here and the French have been really good. Would only be a short term on to start but once I have it, I just have to keep renewing it. My worry is that the business hasn't made any money yet so that could be a sticking point!

Had I not smacked my head on the tarmac the summer before last, then bought a minibus that blew up - the associated stresses wouldn't have happened so I would have had the Irish one by now!! LOL

Just crossing fingers that one or the other or both works out. I have just received email confirmation of my application, so that's the first step! :banana-dance:

That's been a cracking wheeze by the Irish government. When they collect the €627.80 poll tax for all new ex pats in 2022 they'll be minted.

Hey, if I have to pay 'something' to be able to do my job here (can't do it with a UK passport), then I will!! 627.80€ is a tad high for not living there tho!!

But I can apply for French nationality in a year's time (not really the plan, but might be necessary if I want to stay :( )

Christmas decs boxed & returned to attic
Wally World for vittles
Trip to Rosamond to get something not available locally
Tested new 4in wide razor scraper on mineral stained windows
Baking 4 taters in the oven to go with steak for early dinner
Gassed up at Costco, saved $7.20 over going to the next cheapest place which is $0.45 more per gallon.
Ate a few snorker rolls
Hit the bank for a wodge of spondulix

And then a quick trip to Arco to fill the propane tank so the steak can be grilled...

Been out this morning on the MTB on the dunes in cock all warmth and high winds. Did about 16-17 miles , helped rescue a seal pup that had escaped from the beach to the public track and managed to get across one piece of deep sand that has stumped me for fucking months as its really deep and fine. I normally either run out of momentum and bog down/run of of ability and skill and crash. managed to get the right balance, weight shift and spinning gear to get across it today ...... :banana-dance:

As you asked .... poor little sod was shitting itself but seemed unable to move/didnt know where to go so managed to locate the local wardens . The beach is about 50 metres to the left up that sand track where there were hundreds of seals and at the peak of the season a couple of thousand a month ago

Went to the knee overhaul doctor. Today we talked hips. He thinks the pain I'm getting (when out on the bike) in both hips is tendonitis, not arthritis.
Basically feels like localized cramp in the my hips, but goes away if I stand up on the pegs for a moment.. whereas arthritis wouldn't.

Anywho, he's ordered hip x-rays & I have a follow with him on Feb 3rd. Takes a couple of weeks to get approval the images from the insurance.

Fitted new front discs to the wife's Mini today. I put pads in a while back and noted the discs were worn and finally ordered up the discs for it the other day. Got new rear pads to fit as well, but am waiting on the wear sensor to arrive. Its had new tyres and so should be good for its MOT at the end of the month...

Been trying to organise some friends to help me move the Bastard Minibus (can’t tow it on my own!! And needs to be ‘parked’ as the Police Municipal were unhappy with the ‘jaunty’ angle it had been left at!!)

Drove down this morning early - in case the police decided to tow it away early :o

So far I’ve added the locking wheel nuts and an extra normal one to each wheel (when the fuckers nicked the winter tyres/wheels, we could only find 3 nuts per wheel  )

I’ve scraped the windscreen (until the scraper broke  ) so that my friend can see out of the window when we tow it

And I’ve dug most of the snow away from the wheels/direction it’ll be towed in

Just got 30 mins to wait for the friends to get here to help. Probably not long enough for the transit to warm up - it warms up much better whilst driving!!!
