That's why mine is still in the garage. Cold I can do, washing bikes...nah hate it.

Do the plastic footrest areas cope ok with the muck? Wondered if they get scuffed up with the slimy grit!

The muddy sign of it, yes. It was a dirty but I decided to come home on roads that are between fields which had flooded and put silt over the roads!

Nah, not really.
A colleague said today that he couldn't believe I still had it! That makes 2 of us!
TBH I don't even look at other bikes anymore. This really is a keeper. 
Super comfortable and economical and I just enjoy pootling about on it and even in this weather i often take the longer route home.

, nor fitted the chain oiler I found for it in the loft-of-plenty. But, there is hope! I found the oil, oil and DCT filters I bought for the Africa Twin which I suspect will fit the x-adv as well, and its due its 8k service soon, so a clean and service is on the cards methinks!Re: NBT: I’ve just bought my forever bike, part 2!

Not sure its a downside as such, but the bike is too bloody quiet! The Akra has a db killer in, and they are only a tad louder without the db killer so it should be bang on, but you have to drill a hole in the c/fibre end cap to get access to the retaining bolt?! 
I cant see exactly where to drill it and don't want to f-up the end cap. Ho-hum. Apart from that I'm still really pleased with it and cant see it going anywhere for weeks or even months yet!

You can just move the end cap and re-rivet it, but i'd like the easier option of access to the retaining bolt. Found a few vids now, so it maybe a goer after all...

It's a common mod. Akra even sell the rubber bungs to cap the 10mm holes. I didn't do mine because I didn't want the bike any louder. I don't want to decat it, but with the cat and a baffled silence it is whisper quiet. I'd bet even if you took the whole can off with the cat in place,it would still be quiet. Taking out the baffles will probably make little difference if you keep the cat. People used to ditch the can and just fit a short tailpipe on BMW GS's and, iirc, they still met the decibel rules and regs, just sounded a bit more fruity. Fuelling didn't need changing either.
