Definitely, I recall a couple associates of mine that are anti vax, both being guilty of not buying road tax for their vehicles.....Potter wrote: ↑Thu Sep 23, 2021 12:57 amBeing anti vax is just another way to be anti The Man.Noggin wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 5:05 pm
There's a fairly big antivax group in Bourg (English ex pats )
Now, I'd be more understanding (although would still disagree!) if I didn't know that not only do they regularly drink till incapable but also will (or at least have) smoke(d), snort(ed), shoot(shot) all sorts of various drugs that they buy from non regulated suppliers
WTAF - if you are willing to take various random recreational drugs, WTF won't you take a vaccine??!!
I now avoid those that I know are like that as I just don't want to talk about it!! LOL
I guarantee the same people whining about vaccines also think Boris is out to eat their children, etc.
It's just levels, some people (like my mate) started out years ago moaning about life not being fair and the government being wankers, which to be fair most people occasionally moan about, but after years of it some people take it further and further, until it's lizard people or the devil or freemasons or whatever.
Even the ones that pretend to be normal sensible people, if they moan a lot about the government and rich people then it wouldn't take much to get them to open up about conspiracies in parliament, conspiracies to keep the working man oppressed, etc.
They're only two pints away from lizard people in parliament ate my hamster.

Re: Covid conspiracies / rants/ BS
I think this feeds back into the "distraction" thread - if you're so busy greedily lapping up "Biden is great" "Biden is bad" "Covid vax will kill you" "Why aren't these morons getting vaccinated?" etc slurry through your preferred media poop-hole, then these medias and your mate down the Nag's Head will feed you even more - maybe your eye is taken off the ball as to the bigger picture and what's important?
Are the media and governments complicit? Probably. They wouldn't call it a conspiracy though. Every man and his dog seems to think the Beeb has an angle after all. To what end? And why?
I can't be just that winding people up sells better and generates more clicks than pictures of kittens?

Re: Covid conspiracies / rants/ BS
Immunity isn't a yes or no proposition. Vaccines provide immunity by stimulating the production of antibodies. That stimulation varies in individuals for a variety of reasons. No vaccine will impart 100% immunity in all vaccinated individuals. Antibody production as a result of natural exposure or vaccination doesn't produce a constant and permanent level of antibodies. They fall off after a period of time. The initial vaccination yields a response that gets enhanced significantly by a booster given two to three weeks later. That will yield a spike in production that will fall off steadily. Current recommendation is to receive a follow up booster at 6 months. The downside to vaccination? Some individuals will have an adverse reaction. They can be quite severe and can be fatal. That is true for any vaccine that one may encounter, not just COVID-19. See the CDC link below for more details & numbers.irie wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 7:54 pmMy understanding is that current vaccines do not provide immunity to Covid, instead they dramatically reduce the risk of hospitalisation and death in the event of contracting Covid. For this reason there will not be herd immunity to Covid because this depends on vaccines providing immunity to disease.Cousin Jack wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 7:23 pm Freedom is a strange thing.
People's freedom to refuse vaccination means that I am probably going to be denied the advantages of herd immunity, and my grandchildren or great-grandchildren will miss out on the final eradication of Covid.
For COVID-19 the VAERS website has received reports of 10,128 individuals that have died following COVID vaccines. There is no implied cause and effect in these reports, it's just raw data taken from reports anyone may submit. In the same time frame 459 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines were administered in the United States from December 14, 2020, through November 29, 2021.
To date the US has had 49 million cases and 787 thousand deaths. In addition to deaths we've got a number of people that have experienced life altering consequences as a result of infection. I've seen numbers from 25% to 50% of patients developing long term symptoms (that doesn't mean life long - but who the fuck wants to be sick for months on end?). See google link below.
CDC link
google search link
The real world experiences support the use of the vaccines. In this country counties that have low rates of vaccination have high rates of infection. Conversely, the counties with higher rates of vaccinations have lower rates of infection. The people filling the hospitals and the people dying are, for the most part not vaccinated. Of those who are vaccinated, the ones who die typically have underlying conditions. Colin Powell is among the vaccinated that recently passed. He had multiple myeloma.
About the development of variants. The longer we dick around with people not getting vaccinated, the more we'll see of variants. That's just a numbers game. More vaccines will mean less spread of the disease. Less shedding of virus which equates to less viral replication. With lower replication, there aren't as many opportunities for variants to develop.

My lot all did that well-known political gathering known as the Orpington Santa Dash yesterday morning. Around 500 people, from kids to pensioners some with dogs all dressed as Santa for a charity run through the local park and high street.
Just where you need raving, swivel-eyed loons, protesting against 5G masts being put up in the high street, laying down in front of the start line to highlight their protests.
They then moved to the finish line to continue their noisy protest whilst people, including small kids, crossed the finish line.

From the 2nd link above:
“An inquiry is being conducted,” said police spokeswoman Chryssa Panayiotou. “It seems to have been an accident. The 58-year-old woman was lying on the ground when her 62-year-old husband drove into her, not knowing she was there.”
Police said while it was premature to rush to conclusions, the woman appeared to have got out of the car under the influence of alcohol before collapsing. “The incident happened at around 2.30am,” added the spokeswoman.

That reminds me of a case locally years ago where a mother reversed out of her garage and ran over and killed their toddler.irie wrote: ↑Mon Dec 13, 2021 7:11 am From the 2nd link above:
