So much for a chilled morning enjoying the sunshine !!

I mean, the sun is shining and so I've sort of been enjoying it, just not chilling out in it!!

So far -

Loads of sorting out in the spare room, lots hung up in the wardrobe there or put on shelves (mostly too small stuff and very too small stuff that has been packed away for years !)
All vacuum/squishy bags for storing stuff compressed have now been emptied and folded up - I just need to get teh step ladder out and put them all in the box in the top of the hall cupboard
Massive sorting of two-double-shoe-box sized plastic boxes that had all sorts of stuff in them !! Who knew I'd collected so many different sorts of Filofax !! And pens - soooo many many pens !! All mostly sorted now and whats left to be boxed is only taking up about half of one of the boxes !!!


Next on the list is more ironing (my back and arm will complain about that!!) then I have a lot of wool and embroidery/cross-stitch supplies to sort. but that last will probably be another day !!!

Right now I am gonna make another bucket of tea and go sit in the sun with a book for a bit !! (Probably should take a yoga mat out there and do some physio/yoga to make my back feel better, but might go for that after the ironing!!!)


Feeling quite proud really, I do have a lot of sorting of bathroom/cleaning stuff to do but all but a small amount of both are in cupboards or on shelves already, so that isn't urgent. I really did stock up on cheap versions of shampoo, conditioner, face wash (can't find the cheap one I like here!) and various stuffs when I was in the uk in May !!! I also stocked up on chocolate, but I seem to have made substantial inroads to that stash in the last 6 weeks, blame a man for the emotional eating!!!

Almost sorted enough to take some photos to send my mum, but still got about four boxes to collect from resort !!

Fitted a solar trickle charger to the car, well that was the plan, I mean it's a 25 minute job so what could go wrong.

Take off negative terminal, put socket wrench on top of battery, knock socket wrench into the bowels of the engine compartment.
15 minutes and some deft magnetic fishing later socket wrench retrieved.
Remove nut from negative clamp to fit ring terminal from charger, drop bolt into the bowels of the engine compartment.

Spend 15 minutes scouting around looking for it with a torch, game of hide n seek won by bolt, never mind thinks I, I shall delve into the quality street tin of plenty and pick a suitable close enough bolt, nope that's not going to work as it's a T- bolt that draws the clamp tight and I've got nothing even close

OK, no need to panic, I didn't hear it hit the floor or the undertray so it can't have gotten far, cabling removed, positive battery clamp removed, battery clamp removed, battery removed, battery box removed, battery tray removed, begin fresh hunt looking for tell tale signs, tracks and any other trick I can think of.

Tharr she blows, grabs magnet to fish it out, bugger it isn't magnetic, OK grab long nose pliers, wedge some other wires out of the way with another set of pliers to give me room, and then promptly knock it all the way through the engine bay onto the undertray.

And no way I'm taking the undertray off, 1, I'm lazy, 2, it's never been off, so every nut, screw, clip and plastic fastener is guaranteed to snap, shear or round out, try to go in through the fog light surround, net result bolt not retrieved and now have broken fog light surround.

Retreat inside to order replacement bolt from Amazon, sod it I'm in no rush and don't need to drive again until the 28th October, also order new fog light surround.

Back to the coal face, replace battery tray, replace battery box, replace battery, replace battery clamp replace various wiring odd n sods, slam bonnet, start cleaning and putting away tools.

Sit back and admires job not done whilst thoughts of the upcoming African chicken soup I've got for lunch start to take my attention, but hold on there skippy, why is there a gap in the drawer where a pair of blue handled pliers should be? the same blue handled pliers I'd used to hold some wires out of the way

FFS, do everything again, battery, clamp, box, tray, all out, there they are, replace everything again, 2.5 hours later nothing has been achieved except firming up what I get to do next weekend when the spare parts arrive.

As opposed to silver soldering? We used that to make fuel injection plumbing for DB605 engines for Bf109's

Booked another ferry to Ireland, as a certain booking agency needs a road map to find their own arse and took the money, then sent me an email today apologising that the selected route had no availability for animals. Cost another £80 as well.....grrrrrr

More like yesterday:

8am HC service. 9.30am Civic Service with the Mayor and some Council reps. 12pm Baptism of a young baby. 1pm Baptism of an adult who has turned from addiction to Christ. 2.30pm Messy Church. 6.30pm covering a service at another church 20 minutes drive away. Out at 7.30am and home at 8.30pm.

Today is relax a bit. Daughter to horse therapy. Out early to get the contractors into the church porch to do repairs to the 13th Century roof that is leaking, full repairs underway, old roof off, new room on with a decent fall built in.
