Nice job!

I had a few design ideas for mine, but we've decided this is to be a repair/cosmetic job, which I wasnt happy about initially, but the price of wood is shocking and we're not planing on being here for aniother 25 years to enjoy it , so the basics it is...
Yeah, I’ve left the sides in place as they were a lot better than the top. It’s all getting stained so hopefully that will help it match. Went for a herring design as it’s a lot more efficient use of the wood. Pleased it’s done. Aching in places I didn’t realise I had places!

Today I am playing Nurse Ratched to my very own, in-house, Richard Kimble.
Wife got bitten on the hand by a horse-fly/clegg on Sunday morning and it has swollen up like a swelly-up thing. Didn't half make her yelp when it bit her...made my heart go bumpity-bump too when she did. This is why - none of the stealthy insertion of a hypodermic snout like a mozzie - it's stab, slice, slice, slurp.
Thank

they don't fly around in swarms!

Got up early to crack on with stuff......only to hear drip..drip..drip...drip
I had hoped it was the pressure valve for the HWT, but alas turned out to be the cold water feed for the fridge.
Upon disassembly, a shoulder seal had perished....and of course in my enormous collection of fibre washers, seals and rubber stuff, Nada.
A trip to town was made, where eventually the correct bit was acquired. Home, fitted in 5 minutes and all's well, except that took most of the morning.

Do you have to provide your own lube and stuff like that?

Bankers don't need lube, they are naturally slippery as fuck.

Replaced the busted spoke on Mr. Blue. I will state this here and now, that's the last time I'll ever fuck about with tyres and tyre levers. From this day on I'll take the easy route and leave to the guys with the gear.
Anyway,normality is restored.

Went back to work after a few weeks off. Well, WFH anyway, which mainly consisted off answering emails and not much else. Tomorrow I get to ride the mighty AT into our fair capital city!

Took the old Civic for its mot and was told the underbody is made of cheese. Looks like it's going for a big rest. ☹

Must be the day for MOT’s, took the Beemer, passed with no issues. Then spent a large chunk of the day up a ladder cleaning gutters and Sadolin’ing wooden fascia’s, between showers.

Bought some lottery tickets (5 for $10) for tomorrow nights $1.3Billion jackpot ($589M cash option, $371M after taxes... or $820M after taxes over 30 years for the full pot).
Gal at the store told me they usually do $500/day in ticket sales, yesterday they did $4k (last night jackpot was $1.2Billion). Store makes 6% on tickets,
It's going to be higher than $1.3B by 8pm tomorrow.
Also found out that the *lucky* store (BlueBird Liquor in LA) has the highest sales because they sell the most winners... because they have the highest sales. Per-capita it's no higher than any other store, but the media continually promotes the place. Also found out that at 6c on the $1 they make enough just from lottery sales to cover the total cost of running the business including wages, rent, utilities etc. The queue they showed on the news this morning showed people lined up down the block & around the corner.
For some perspective:
$371M... so ya take $71M for immediate needs & invest the remaining $300M at a mere 4%. That will give you an income of $1M/month, $250k/week. I think I could scrape by.

Still seems funny to me that you have to pay taxes on Lottery winnings. And not just taxes, proper socialist government, wellfare state high levels of tax.
Hope you've enjoyed giving all that money to the government

In California there's no State taxes on lottery winnings, just Federal. NY State takes a chunk...
It's up to $1.4Billion this morning with 12 hours to go.
California: $399,651,980 cash option after taxes.
NY: $330,513,280 cash option after taxes.
All states/options here:

Edit: It looks like it you invested $300M @ 4% interest over 30 years you'd end up with just shy of $1B. (not accounting for taxes)

Dreary 3 hour online workshop to get my CWPS certificate. (Child Wellbeing and Protection in Sport).
Only needs done every 3 years fortunately.
I'm assuming 10yo kids no longer climb a 30ft rope with only a 1in rubber pad to land on in PE?

Today we had to say goodbye to our beloved Elvis. We had a few days to say goodbye and the vet kept him calm and pain free.
He'll be up in doggy heaven nicking all the food.
Vet came to the house and he went peacefully out on the patio.
He was 14 and we had him 13 years
We'll miss you mate.
.
By hell it hurt for a while. Every time I came into town, folk asked about him. Most didn't know. 4 weeks now
Over the years, hundreds maybe thousands of tourists have said hi to him as they pass through here in the Square.
Folk came to see him year after year.
He was a real celebrity. FB went berserk when he went
4 tourists couples asked tonight where he was.
It's not so painful now. Actually quite pleasing that folk are asking about him as he touched a lot of lives.
