I think DT was referring to the Iwo Jima pic, not the Trump one (although I could be wrong, I often am). I was, anyway.Taipan wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2024 9:33 pmLets not forget the guy behind him was killed by one of the bullets! Don't you just love how people can cherry pick small bits out of the whole and use that to support their pre-conceived notions in order to vilify an individual and simultaneously ignore the whole on the other side to lift up a complete clown? If you want a lifetime supply of word salad, listen to an entire Trump speech or interview.Hoonercat wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 1:04 pmHad you watched the full vid I very much doubt you would have even picked up on the above snippet (it's very easy to find on YouTube - in fact someone in the comments links to it.) But you didn't, happier to be taken in by an out-of-context snippet that's clearly been published to show her in a negative light.Screwdriver wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 8:17 amWell no actually. Does the motivation for recording this video alter the content in any way?
She "looks" drunk and is more like an embarrassing relative at a wedding than a presidential character.
Glad you posted it though. Having watched most of the full speech she's gone up in my estimation
The dismissal of the verdict for Trump's assault on E. Jean Carroll is a glaring example. A criminal case was out of question due to the statute of limitations. Therefore she went after the fool in civil court, possible due to a law passed May of 2021 allowing civil suits for sexual assault victims to file civil claims beyond expired statutes of limitations. Prior to that, the ability to file any charges expired after three years. The statute gave them up to 20 years to file a civil claim. The bill passed the New York Senate 140-3. More than 3000 suits have been filed under the statute.
The charge of rape wasn't in accordance with New York legal definitions as it was determined that Trump had penetrated her vagina with his finger. Under New York law, the definition states that it has to be his penis. Judge Kaplan, the presiding judge subsequently stated that Trump's actions did indeed fit the definition of rape offered by the American Psychological Association and the Justice Department. A jury of nine found him guilty of the charge.
As for not reporting the crime in a timely fashion, that is quite common for a variety of reasons.
That interview where she said rape is sexy has more to it than 3 words. It was with Anderson Cooper:
Carroll: I was not thrown on the ground and ravished. Which the word rape carries so many sexual connotations. This was not -- this was not sexual. It just hurt. It just --
Cooper: I think most people think of rape as a -- it is a violent assault. It is not --
Carroll: I think most people think of rape as being sexy.
Clearly Carroll didn't think it was sexy after stating it hurt.
There's much more to the interview than I've transcribed.

Several shots fired.
No injuries reported.
Gunman safely apprehended miles away without his weapon.

But even though Snopes has debunked the "very fine people", Harris still thought it proper to mention it in the debate. And so, apparently, did the moderators, otherwise they would have fact checked her, right?

I am left to ponder, did you read the link in full? What he didn't say, was that neo-nazis and white supremacists were very fine people. What Trump said "there were very fine people on both sides." Context tells us a story though, doesn't it?
Are we to place that on the scales and have it exactly balance the lunacy coming from Trump? Haitians are eating pets and "they" are sending criminals and emptying asylums into our country like nobody has seen before. Give me another round of the late great Hannibal Lector. How many of his MAGA force are looking at criminal charges? Or already charged, convicted, sentenced, and served time? FFS, a stale bag of crisps would be more electable.Editors' Note: Some readers have raised the objection that this fact check appears to assume Trump was correct in stating that there were "very fine people on both sides" of the Charlottesville incident. That is not the case. This fact check aimed to confirm what Trump actually said, not whether what he said was true or false. For the record, virtually every source that covered the Unite the Right debacle concluded that it was conceived of, led by and attended by white supremacists, and that therefore Trump's characterization was wrong.
The left is clearly losing in the race to the bottom. The right seems to have found the hyperdrive button.

There are several reported cases of wildlife and pet animals being either killed and eaten, killed and mutilated or simply mutilated. My understanding is that these are not all reports from the Haitian invasion of Springfield and that many of the remains appear to indicate voodoo practices largely performed by Jamaican immigrants. Admittedly it is a relatively trivial matter which the left have cleverly magnified to distract from the disastrous performance of the current administration which includes their darling Harris.
Trump did specifically denounce the neo-nazi/white supremacists before making the "both sides" comment" so all that you and the rest of the left wing propagandists are saying is that EVERYONE who is a Trump supporter or right wing patriot is by default a neo-nazi/white supremacist. If you believe that, then there is no point trying to have a rational discussion with you.

The only voodoo shit I can locate was from a New York Post article about animal sacrifices in Queens. Last time I checked, that wasn't in Illinois. Unless there's been some sort of catastrophic tectonic plate shift, that's a wee bit further east. It involved finding nine wounded animals or carcasses over a one month period on federally managed land. Five pigs, a baby rat, a headless chicken, a live hen in distress, and a dead dog. Is that a justification for making up lies about people in a small town in Illinois?
Trump/Vance rhetoric has brought "very fine" people into Springfield, Illinois, the location where hoards of Haitians are not dining on Fifi and Fluffy. I think there've been 50 some odd bomb threats made regarding several different locations in the town. There have been requests from Republican leaders in Illinois to have the fools cut out the lying BS about the Haitian population of the town. City manager, Bryan Heck told a JD Vance staffer that the rumors were not true before the Trump/Harris debate. The mayor of Springfield has verified this.
Did you look at the footage from that Unite the Right gathering in Charlottesville? That was an assembly of neo-nazis and klansmen, neo-confederates, neo-fascists, and white nationalists. Nazi, neo-nazi symbols were abundant. Likewise for the Valknut, Confederate battle flags, and Deus vult crosses. Denouncing a group, then praising them in the same breath is nothing to trumpet. One of them ran his car through counter demonstrators. Dear leader blows smoke from both sides of his mouth. If there were some very fine people on both sides, they sure made a point of laying low among the demonstrators that were there to oppose the removal of the Robert E Lee statue.
NB, no one is saying Trump voters are all white supremacists, racists, etc. However, there is no doubt that many fit the bill. The gathering at Charlottesville was over the removal of a confederate statue. The protest against that removal was populated by people that can't deal with the fact the South lost the Civil War.
You want a rational discussion, but you cannot see the forest for the Trees.

Yes, fair use makes it a no-no to copy and paste the entire article. One can read it in full and still come away with the same conclusion. Trump condemned a group and complimented them at the same time. He goes on in the video to natter about George Washington and other historical figures that were slave owners and attempts to equate removal of a Confederate (loser of the Civil War) Statue with removal of historical figures that WERE NOT officers, soldiers, or otherwise supportive of the Confederacy. Which was the reason for removal of the statue.Saga Lout wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 6:38 pmYou complained about cherry picking, then you do this:Bwana wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 4:12 pmOoooh! Bang! Everyone at the Unite the Right Rally opposing the removal of the statue fell into one of several far right groups. There were alt-right, neo-confederates, neo-fascists, white nationals, neo-nazis, klansmen, and far right militias.
Just to assist you in your confusion:
alt-right is a far right white nationalist movement
neo-confederates portray the Confederate States of America and its actions during the American Civil War in a positive light - can't accept that the south was defeated and a main driving force of the war was slavery.
neo-facists follow far right ideology that includes significant elements of fascism - racial supremacy, authoritarianism, xenophobia, anti-immigration sentiment.
white nationalists feel threatened by the rise to power of anyone that isn't white
neo-nazis believe in racial supremacy of whites, promote hatred and othering of racial minorities and other ethnic groups.
klansmen - some historians have characterized the KKK as America's first terrorist movement.
far right militias represented at the Charlottesville protests included the Pennsylvania Light Foot Militia, New York Light Foot Militia, 111% People's Militia of Maryland, and the League of the South. Members of these groups have agreed a court to not return to Charlottesville in groups of two or more with any potential weapon at any demonstration or protest.
Sooo, I guess Trump meant the neo-fascists or the klan, maybe someone from the far right militias. were very fine people. I dunno, you tell me where the very fine people were. Trump talks out of both sides of his mouth in order to avoid pissing off his base.
I have a question, do you really believe any of these people aren't cut from the same cloth as white supremacists or white nationalists or are you just on a wind up mission?

What is so difficult to understand that I'm not speaking about everyone that doesn't agree with me? His inner circle does include some lovely individuals. Get a load of Steve Bannon, Rudy Giuliani, Roger Stone, Marjorie Taylor Greene to name a few. Do take note that there are a number of Republicans jumping off the Trump train and a pretty significant number of people who worked closely with him during his presidency that think he's unfit for the office. General Mark Milley springs to mind.

If I remember correctly Trump has said in the past that he was/is a Democrat. Now, I can't for the life of me understand why the Republican party accepted him as a Presidential candidate for them but there's nowt as queer as American folks.
It's a pity he's not running for the Democrats isn't it. He'd probably polarise opinions.
