EDIT: Looks like it's lost about 10kg from a standard (road going) Desmo. Fairing lowers can't weigh that much. I see it's got carbon wheels, they'll be a fair few kilos. Does a Desmo have a carbon fuel tank? If not, that'd be the majority of the rest wouldn't it? The factory spec Desmo as sold probably has a heavier exhaust to get the noise down too?

And the thread is 'interesting', not 'impressive'

It’s a pretty feeble excuse for a speed record.

Production 350s were going past my house faster than that 50 years ago.

And probably wobbling into the next hedge. My 400-F - which was supposed to be a better-hander than the 350 - nearly wobbled itself into oblivion a couple of times, most notably on the left hander at the bottom of the hill after Queen Mary's Hospital on the Sidcup bypass. I hit at at 80+ and the bike went lock to lock and left two little dents in the tank where the switch gear hit it. God knows how I got round it.

I note the fork shield has been removed on the left to allow steering damper to be fitted on that 350

Had to laugh at this. I actually bought one soon after they came out and managed to get an 'XYZ' 500V registration.

I thought it was OK at the time. First production bike with tubeless tyres too IIRC. Combined with shaft drive and water cooling it was ideal in a number of ways. Mine (black) was a commuter workhorse and I put a lot of miles on it in quite a short time. Despite having all the mods (with the associated line of punch marks on the engine) a coolant seal failed and the cam chain tensioner and various associated bits self-destructed. (They must have expected problems as there was a drain designed-in for the leaking coolant to drip out of!)

Some might think this would be better in the WTF thread, but I like the effort.

Inazuma 750 frame, Blandit 12 wheels, forks and engine with a GSXR1100 swingarm and some Kat bodywork.

Wheelbase looks a bit shorter than an old skool Kat, so might have half decent handling, but with more power and a retro look.

With a few more quid spent on it to finish it off proper I reckon it would be quite a nice bike.

Since there is no other pillion provision,I'd like to see that rear end brought in a ways. The big,long arse is the only bit I dislike.

The long seat is part of the Kat look, imho.

Needs something doing with the rear indicators and that silly stubby can. I'd junk the fake Chinese Ohlins shocks too.

I like that, but then I always liked the Katanas. The seat's right, and it looks like the lugs are there for pillion pegs which would make it useable.

The XSR seems to be a firm favourite with custom boyos.

The box is secreted away on this one.
