The dog went out at 0030 this morning, promptly came in and puked on the floor which I tidied up and then couldn’t get back to sleep. Half an hour later the poor sod then projectile puked about a pint of grossness all over the kitchen floor and back door mat. More tidying up with the stench of dog puke up my nose and then to bed. Up at 0500 for the early train to work before getting off at the halfway point and riding in. It was minus 2 so a bit brass monkey’s.
That's not sounding like a fun morning. !

My Dad has refused the Covid vaccine. He says he's 93 and too late for all that stuff to matter.
Man,he redefines the word stubborn.

Old sail boats are like old bikes, you could spend all day, every day, working on them, but there is always something else to do.
Not just sail boats, any old boat will do.
Today I've put the final coat of paint on the new cabin ceiling panels, put the final coat of bilge paint on the new battery tray (both at home), been up to the boat and test fitted a new bed end/toilet cover support (it's a small cabin with some features usually only found on bigger boats, like an electric loo!), removed some unnecessary shite where the new battery tray is going to be positioned, measured up for the second stringer for the same new battery tray, came back to the house, sanded and varnished the 3 bits of plywood that make up the toilet cover/bed end. With a second run up to the boat I brought the instrument panel/steering wheel box down to the house where I'll start on making a new one over the weekend when we're on a complete lockdown.
I haven't even considered starting on the rowing boat yet. When all of the new bits are made I too will be doing some re-wiring work as I'll have moved the batteries, put new lights in the cabin, fitted an inverter to run off the solar panel I fitted earlier in the year etc. The end is in sight but only if you can see the future.
To be honest though I enjoy the work. The pain is having the boat at the far end of the village and only being allowed out for 3 hours a day. Oh, and breaking that 3 hours a day rule.

I miss my boat, though it would have been a liability with all this covid shit.

Not true if you've made the boat yourself.
There is only one thing better than being a couple of miles offshore in a boat you made yourself.

Making it back to dry land without sinking?

Helped starting to clear a ruin on spawn's croft and then down to the tip with it
Came back from the tip with another pressure washer, a CO2 fire extinguisher, a couple of 600x400mm eurocrates, a plastic pallet and a couple of roasting pans.

Tried to figure out why the roof is leaking in the summerhouse*. I can see it's damp at the rear, but looking at the bitumen shingles and guttering I can't see owt wrong. Weird.
I suspect the spring may see me pulling all the shingles off and doing the whole thing again. Another arse ache I really don't need.
*or 'shed' if you're working class like me.

Most boats have lots of holes in them Skub. My rowing boat has a long hole in the bottom of it - about 40 mm long x 12 mm wide - I can sail it if I take the notion and that hole/slot is where the dagger board goes. My big boat has holes in the hull for the toilet - inlet and waste, sink waste, bilge pump, anchor locker drain etc. Both of my kayaks have 3 big holes in the deck. On of the big holes is so that the user can sit in the boat.
Another joke: Do you want to make a small fortune? Start with a big fortune and buy a boat!

That's put me off boats even more.

Royal Navy Submarines are like sharks.
Prowling silently through the deep, mercilessly hunting prey? No...if they stop moving, they sink and die.

That's kinda like me,except even when I move I sink and die. I specialise in the anchor stroke.
