Deep cleaning at the fang mechanic. Actually dozed off at least 3 times in the chair, so got clean teeth & my morning nap all sorted in one go

Re: What have you done today thread?
Wife to train station, son to work, me to doctor to try and get an appointment (they open at 8am) and I got the 9.05 appointment. Was seen at 9.20. Back home knowing I could collect the prescription at 5pm at my local pharmacy. Also managed to get a separate appointment to find out why my pain clinic appointment was cancelled without reason given. I've waited months for this so that I can move more easily.
Then walked the woof, did some work and took the Eucharist at the church, finished a Bible Study on the book of James. Really great stuff. Home to finish making a raised vegetable bed for the wife. She is very happy! Then off to school to attend Local Governors Meeting until 8pm. All in a busy day, also chatted with daughter on WhatsApp and arranging for her to come home this weekend. I'll drive there early afternoon Saturday.

I had similar earlier in the year when updating my car emergency supply as all 5 were on the verge of rolling out of date.

Mini heatwave today. Got one of the sheds cleaned out. Fitted another security camera and little solar panel. New diesel filter and housing in the wifes car. Reset the service light only to get the same warning about the filter starting to clog. Nothing showing up on the codes. Treated a lawnmower to a new carb, air filter and spark plug. Changed the blade and boss then tested it by cutting the neighbours lawn for a nice bottle of red

Re: What have you done today thread?
Started sorting stuff for my Arizona trip on Friday, leaving at first light.. which means rising sun in my face, bugger....well, not until I turn East at Mojave into the 58 to Barstow (not quite the end of the Earth, but you can see it from there).
Got some of the *truck stuff* already loaded & there's a growing pile in the garage to load on Thursday so I can just 3S & head out on Friday.

Continued monitoring my blood pressure following a BUPA check the other week. Dug out my Omron BP monitor, gave it some fresh batteries and prepared to prove the doc wrong and that it was a simple case of 'White Coat Syndrome' causing the up-tick....

I don't think they are too bad - prob borderline for tablets. Low pulse rate - very similar to mine.gremlin wrote: Mon Mar 31, 2025 12:27 pm Continued monitoring my blood pressure following a BUPA check the other week. 135/85 is borderline high-ish for home readings according to the NHS but they don't give typical measurements by age range apart from suddenly, at 80, it's expected to be higher
I don't think any medic is going to get into a flap about your readings.
I'll check mine later.

Soz...I probably meant beta-blockers or something. I'm not well versed in medications (and the quacks always look surprised when I say I'm not taking anything and not pulling my weight funding the pharma industry - but my wife's doing enough for both of usSunny wrote: Mon Mar 31, 2025 1:29 pmGiven statins are for cholesterol management, neither would ICount Steer wrote: Mon Mar 31, 2025 1:08 pmI'd be happy with those.wheelnut wrote: Mon Mar 31, 2025 12:56 pm

Re: What have you done today thread?
Talking of pharma...
Got my online medication today.
No, not that medication, you deviant.
I get acne roseacea flair up across my nose from time-to-time and had an episode a few weeks back. Not enough of a malaise to get free parking or anything, just a bit of a red, spotty nose and cheeks. Last prescription was years back, so prepared myself for the long, drawn-out process of contacting my G.P., but then thought I'd look online.
A couple of clicks later, after taking a selfie of my schozzer and answering some basic yes/no questions, my prescription had been registered and approved a bit later and turned up today. Granted, cost me £18 instead of the nigh-on tenner for an NHS prescription, but a lot easier.
With every passing year my G.P. get less and less relevant due to their less-than-accessible business model.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Vasodilation (probably misspelled) but it happens after exercise. I have hypertension and I get extremely light headed after a particularly long and hard ride. Paramedics told me about the cause and actually recommended I take my HBP medication post this level of exercise and only after I have rested for a couple of hours.gremlin wrote: Mon Mar 31, 2025 1:26 pmJust got back from a lunchtime run, 4k-ish. Re: What have you done today thread?
Just did my BP. Haven't done it for a while. I knew it was better than it was 3 years ago as I checked it a couple of times last year.
Av of 3 readings: 124/79. Well chuffed. Did a 5 mile 'romp' around the hills this morning too.
'Tis the power of clean living.
(Well, that and the fact that the other result of it was I've shed 3st. My knees appreciate it too.
).
150+/90+ was not unknown before I moved down to welterweight.

Re: What have you done today thread?
And this is what baffled both the doc and I. I'm 55, so a prime candidate for HBP, but at the same time I'm 18% body fat, 76kg/176cm and my activity levels are good (4-6 gym workouts a week, both weights and cardio + I own the Hound of the Twatville who demands many walks) and my diet is pretty good, even if Mrs. G does say so herself.Count Steer wrote: Mon Mar 31, 2025 2:11 pm 'Tis the power of clean living.(Well, that and the fact that the other result of it was I've shed 3st. From the doc's perspective he was all out of suggestions as to what to do, bar medication.
From my perspective I was just a bit fucked off given that I try to remain fit and healthy.
