MIL suffered from vascular dementia and she couldn't understand why her husband didn't visit,or look after her. Telling her he had died years ago brought with it all the shock and agony of bereavement...every time. In the end we stopped being truthful and made up stories until the questions faded away.

Radio 4 did a couple of lovely spots on him, stressing what a lovely guy he was. I can only say, that based on my brief interaction with him, he was.

I didn't realise lining your own pockets was the right reason to be in politics.
He used to live across the road from my wife's family, wasn't a nice bloke.
