I think that, as usual, the potential for rules that are fine with 95% and are staggeringly inconvenient/impossible for the 5% are highly likely.

Is anyone else finding themselves somewhat institutionalised after all this time of lockdown and restrictions?

For the first month of lockdown#1 I didn't go further than the end of the street.
Up until the end of lockdown#1 I hadn't been outside of the village.
The furthest I've been up til this point in total has been 40 miles away.
In all this time I've actually socialised with probably less than 10 people.
I've physically touched 4 people (I asked first )

My point is, it's starting not to bother me that much. I'm even enjoying my weekly trip to Lidl ffs.

So - are you?
- cracking on as per the rules (let's be honest there really are no rules "do what you think best" isn't really a rule)
OR
- will you genuinely be going the extra mile and, for example, masking up when you don't have to to protect the immuno-compromised and/or presumably lower the rate of new infections?

I'm not trying to start a fight, just interested. I'll go first - I kind of think it'll be a fair while before I shake a stranger's hand again, let alone kiss in greeting, but I'm probably not going to go around with a mask on if "I don't have to".

I'll be avoiding busy places for some time yet, I've had both jabs but don't fancy being complacent.

I can't see me doing anything different. In shops I still think I'll wear a mask, I won't outside but don't now.

I don't really go anywhere much so don't think I'll notice things changing. I can go to a pub/restaurant now and that's mostly all I'd do. My mate did ask if I wanted to see Bob Vylan at the Horn in St Albans which is a cracking little venue for bands but not ready to be going to gigs yet.

No idea when we are going back to work but think work want some people back sooner rather than later. I'm gonna try and stay away as much as poss.

I don't imagine I'll be getting out of the house for more than the day a week I've been doing since this shit hit the fan, and mask wearing in the office is a global requirement so again unlikely to change any time soon, so business as usual for me.

I'm in no mad rush to eat or drink out, not until table service is scrapped and I can belly up to the bar.

I've still been shaking hands. That's what hand santizer is for. If people don't want to accept it, fine. Same with hugging people, random strangers excepted. Was invited to a birthday gathering on Saturday for somebody we met by volunteering to do her shopping last year. First thing she did was come up to me and plant a kiss on cheek and hug me. Happy to do so.

Wearing a mask on crowded public transport? Probably yes, out of courtesy and to avoid any conflict, though if I was sat on train carriage on my own, I'd probably not.

As for the immuno-compromised, not my problem, guv. What were those zorbing balls invented for if not for letting them roll down the aisles in Sainsbury's to get their shopping, eh? Either that or they should put in some Blue Peter effort and make use of old snorkels and cling film.

I get that, but bear in mind that all the kids mingle and infest one another on a daily basis anyway as they're dirty little sods at the best of time, so how would parents in a playing field, if kept socially distanced, be a risk to anybody that wasn't at risk from their covid-riddled kid anyway?

If hand-sanitiser was the be-all-and-end-all then wouldn't we have been shaking hands throughout? Personally I've not done that since March 2020. And I'll probably carry on not doing so, I'm really not bothered about greeting semi-acquaintances in this way and doing it and then whipping out the sanitiser before I touch my face or transfer it to the fridge, seems a bit farcical.

Again, I'm not having-a-go, just that the "do what you think is best" plan doesn't really work in practice.

It's always been a kissy, touchy feely place here. But not the last 18 months. Some folk still kiss on meeting pals, but it's frowned upon.

The not hugging thing is real bonus, I've tried to avoid that for decades now. Some people are far too insistent about their right to hug you, even after you've declined their offer.

Well clearly yes, the ones who stormed the ground were potentially not. However all the ones who had tickets were. So out of the 80,000 about 79,900 of them.

I've never been into all that pretentious hugging and kissing on both cheeks stuff, in fact way before covid I started making it something I actively told people I'm not into. At functions I'd greet people with a friendly hello and then joke that I was from the north of England so I don't do hugs and kisses.
I don't want to hug or kiss you - well, not unless you're an absolute stunner and you want to have sex with me, then I might hug you first, but definitely not afterwards.
