Tried to buy a pair of dog's danglies, stainless steel, dissection type scissors. What a palaver. No, I'm not a surgeon, vet, student, academic institution. No, I don't have an account and no, I'm not VAT registered. I just want to buy a pair v good quality 13cm, straight, sharp/blunt ended scissors.

Anyone's guess if I'll end up with them.

(There's a reason. We have a very good set of dissection kit but it's ~50 years old and, although everything else is in tip top condition (artery clamps? Check. ) I've pretty much worn the above out - they're very useful things. When you're used to using quality kit, the stuff available generally is depressingly poor. The reason we have such a set? One of us used to have to dissect a lot of smallish, slightly radioactive, rodents as part of the job. ).

wtf do you use a kit like that for now?

Just remembered my other odd bit of toolkit that I heartily recommend. I have an emergency dental kit (from when my hollibobs took me to places where dentists might be hard to get to).

Never used it on teeth but the implements are really useful for cleaning fine threads, hooking fiddly bits out of confined spaces etc etc. Cheaps as chips on Amazon too so I've never felt precious about using them for other stuff. Wouldn't want to go near my teeth with them now though.

Yeah - dentist picks are useful - I have a set and use them quite a lot for cleaning out tiny recesses.

Put a new plate on the car.

Which already had a private reg.

What a ball ache.

1. Put current reg on retention
2. Put original reg plates back on car
3. Inform insurance (£20 admin fee)
4. Order plate for new reg using retention cert for new reg
5. Wait for a new v5 with the original registration to arrive along with the new plates
6. Use new v5 and cert to apply new reg to car
7. Put new plates on car
8. Update insurance

Between Friday and today my car has had three different registrations.

Theres no way to swap from one private registration to another without going back to the original DVLA issued registration first.

Next I have to decide which bike I'm putting the other reg on. It was originally my dad's that he had on his Thunderbird Sport, but he was always a BSA man, so I might put it on the Gold Star.

What a ridiculous process, both my cars have private plates which I want to swap, Admiral are going to have a field day in fees when I get around to doing it, thankfully, each car could stay in the garage throughout the process but still, a PITA process.

I think I was insured with Admiral before Hastings and they only charge £5 to change the reg.

You'd need to want it for sure. I toyed with the idea a while back,but I thought it was a fairly straightforward process. That reads like a deterrent.

Been out for the first ride of the year. Fcuk me it is cold out there! Not technically freezing, but 3 hours or so of riding was more than enough despite wearing all the winter gear.

And, pretentious wander that I am, I am about to sample the delights of DVLA. Mrs has ordered a new car and wants her plate transferred.

It's super easy, put the plate on retention using the web service, you'll get the cert number by email and the paper cert in the post in a couple of days.

Give the dealer the cert number and they'll do the rest.

The only problem is that from the moment you press the button to put the plate on retention, the car goes back to the original plates, hope you've still got them in the garage

If it was registered from new with a private plate the DVLA will just issues a random age related registration.

Chucked about 10 shirts and 2 pairs of trousers, none of which fitted. Shirts had no chance of fastening round the neck and the trousers likewise round the waist. One pair was a 32'' waist, I haven't been that for 15 years or more.

I'm left with 2 short sleeved white shirts and no trousers.

I've had the fucking weirdest morning here in truth.

About 8-9 months ago i got a lump on my wrist, just above the bone area.

After 3 weeks i went to a physio who poked about and thought it was tendonitis.... It went away after 3-4 weeks

This then happened again 2 weeks ago. I went to another virtual physio who said it was a Ganglion Cyst and booked me in to get drained/removed.

Then today this happened.

I had 'something' sticking out of where it was swollen... so taking my life into my own hands i thought "lets pull it out and hope it's not an alien"

It was a thorn that's about 15mm in length !!!! Just came right on out !!

It kinda ties in as i thought i'd smacked it into a tree when it first happened... but there was no sign of anything so just manned up and ignored it...

9 months later... the sodding thorn is here !!!! eeeek.
