I LOVE Rock City, one of the best venues in the UK innit.
(And it's a two hour drive, so strategic visits to coincide with gigs feels reasonable )

Useless factoid - that Hooters is in a building that was one of the last traditional lacemakers in the country (Hickings). Now there's one left...but not for long.

Today I've been for a mammogram.

I've bloody sure that there is no way men would accept having their soft bits squished by a sodding machine to the point of pain (they don't say "tell me when it's uncomfortable" they say "tell me when it hurts" ) every two years !!! That machine has to have been invented by a man! I am seriously unimpressed!!

Bonus is that alls clear

Downside is that some medics DO NOT FUCKING LISTEN!!! The other reason I hate mammograms now is that I can't put my right arm where they want it to go. So I explain each time the reason - Shoulder prothesis, total inverse. Simple, yes?

Nope. On the notes I've been sent the guy has written -

Examination technically difficult on the right side due to a chronic disabling periarthritis; disabling frozen shoulder periarthritis.

WTAF ??? That is not even close to what I said. Why would he write that?? Obviously thinks I don't know what's wrong with my shoulder, even though he asked when the surgery had been


But the bonus was that, due to a couple of bad experiences (and a long waiting list) at the local place, I went to somewhere near Chambery so was able to have 'apero' with my my bloke yesterday early evening and lunch with him, another instructor and one of the other students. That was a lovely part of the day


Currently sitting at home waiting for info on my start time tomorrow. Think I might have to go to bed and try and sleep in a bit incase it's a stupid in the morning jobbie again!!

Just got back from a ride. Man it was windy and I am quite knackered. Time for some vitals.

Lovely service at 9.30am in my big church, then off to the smaller one at 11.15 to Baptise a beautiful little girl called Cressida Ovieya (means Queen). What a joy!! Had someone come to me after the service and ask about confirmation, we have a service with our Bishop on 16th February, and another young lad now lined up for Baptism in March (probably full immersion!) So a fabulous day with much joy and celebration. Home to a light lunch in this horrible weather, setting up two S220 SoloCam Eufy Camera's which I'll install when it stops raining! Have got the system all set now and will have solar charging panels on each camera as well. So church grounds well covered now.

Replaced flapper doodad in the crapper tank.
Moved stuff around on garage shelves.
Watched Gladiator II & the final two hours of the Daytona 24 race.
Made & ate two epic grilled pastrami sarnies.

Miserable day here, it's been that annoying drizzle that won't commit to actual rain all bloody day. Snowing in the mountains, we may get some at this level later.

Turned the electricity back on to a bit of Railway on the Sarf coast after it was worked out our trespasser earlier in the evening had left the railway……..

Visited my Camperbus what is about 20 miles south from me. The area is now on day two without power and as a good will gesture the power companies have sent out hot food vans to remote areas. The owner of the land was out fixing holes in the roof of the barn and came over for a blether. He was telling me if i fancy a full English or a bacon roll drive down to the village as the van is open and not asking for any form of proof where you live. Apparently folk are turning of the A1 and nipping on for snack. Cheeky fuckers Yes i took advantage also

A few years ago NR and the TOC's got criticised by ORR/RSSB for failing to deal with "troubled" people visiting the railway. A lot of money and effort has been invested in how we respond to such visits so "concerns for welfare" reports are now a frequent thing, also given the current economic situation and its the first month after Christmas when people are getting pay packets that may not meet their Christmas expenditure we do seem to have a increase late Dec into Jan (relationship break ups at this time as well).

Finally, if any of you have kids, tell them to get their heads out of their phones, pull their hoods down and take their earphones out when they cross the railway at footpath or other crossings.

Today I have been 'retraining'!!

Basically, my boss finally organised the planning so I went driving with another (extremely experienced) driver. We took out both coaches. The one I'm going to be driving I went from Aime to near Bozel - a bit of road I dislike intensely even in a minibus!! Then back to Aime and up to La Plagne.

Damn that coach is BIG!!! 13m long and 3.7m tall

But, Bruno was very very complimentary about my driving (even considering I've not driven a coach since before the end of the course, a three month break!



Now going to bed as starting work at 1.15 - in a Sprinter sadly, but hopefully I'll be driving the coach soon

Our Control Log is full of 'concerns for welfare' across the patch, racking up some pretty meaty delay minutes - it is however the ones that actually go through with it that causes the most aggro.

Something I forgot from the driving of big coaches yesterday. It's about the line assist type things!

So, normally the steering wheel vibrates/rattles or it tries to pull you back on course (well, the course the black box thinks you should be on!)


On both coaches its a bit different. When you start the engine, the whole driver seat vibrates briefly!! That was a surprise.

The biggest surprise was - if you get close to the line on either side, that side of the driver seat vibrates!!!!

Made me laugh a lot, luckily when it vibed I knew I was close and had put the bus there, but it did make me laugh a lot - to the amusement of my colleague that was assessing my driving!! LOL

Funny what makes us laugh, huh?!!
