More coughing...
Have to run roomie over to City Hall to renew her passport. Had a delay of several weeks waiting on her birth cert showing up from the UK. She's a yank, but born in Ruislip as her dad was USAF. She could also get a UK passport if she wanted.

Took delivery of a new Vax carpet cleaner.
Not seen the dog since....
And I just can't figure how that corner step gets so dirty. I mean, the dog knows she ain't allowed on it....

Re: What have you done today thread?
I finished work at 5am, came home and slept a bit.. Then tried to catch up with various people up here but no one was about/replied
Seriously contemplating if I should do as some have suggested and move to the valley!!! I know I won't, but I've spent a few days off like this and actually, not overly keen on it!
Anyway, tomorrow will be better!! Heading to meet a mate (in the valley!) then off to Chambery as have a girly medical rdv Friday morning and will also catch up with my favourite instructor for lunch Friday. Well, hopefully dinner tomorrow too but he's been on some shit shifts this week, so low expectations on that score

Went out for lunch.
With the wife being in hospital over Christmas and being on soft foods since then we've been saving a fortune. Now she's back to eating just about normally the bank account is back to its usual state.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Spent the best part of 5 hours wall papering a Specialized sWorks CX frame.
The customer wanted a frame specific clear vinyl protection wrap applied to the entire frame. Invisframe.
Not an easy job and I for one wouldn't bother with it. But the customer gets what the customer wants and my son gets paid. I got a cup of tea!

Lots of water, weird shape squeegees and microfiber cloths. On areas that are libel to take a lot of wear (I do a bit of bike packing) I've used Gorilla Tape for years. It's thick, doesn't yellow and goes on and off easily enough.

In order to live up to the label provided by Mr Moofo,
today I have had a 1hr Pilates session, finished phase 2 of the oven cleaning and cooked (and eaten) a meal with no meat in it. Lentils, yes, meat, no.
Eaten with wholewheat spaghetti and roast Mediterranean veg

Had a sort of 90's indie playlist on the Sonos today.
I'd forgotten how the music of that era was dominated by young, white, depressed sounding blokes with guitars.

You should listen to Absolute 90's.gremlin wrote: Wed Jan 22, 2025 8:17 pm Had a sort of 90's indie playlist on the Sonos today.

It's all Oasis and Nirvana.
There's a Sonos' own free radio station called 'Supersonic' iirc that quite good too.
The 90's was THE best decade for music, followed closely by the 80's.

Booked a B&B in Whitby (that I've been to before so know it's lovely) for Valentines, Fri/Sat night.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Got home from running errands to the Town Hall & PO. Kinda took it out of me so had two naps. Saw a fairly large smoke cloud on the way home to the West of town. They named this one the Hughes Fire
At the time (11am or so) I saw the smoke, the fire was barely at 50 acres. As of 3pm it's at over 5000 acres & the CHP is closing the 5 Freeway. Wind is blowing in the right direction, away from me.

Coughing a bit less, actually painful to have a scrub down in the shower this morning. I think whatever I got back on Jan 3rd is different to what I got this past Tuesday.

They are talking about the worst storm here in a century. 100mph winds etc. We got the government phone warning the lot. All public transport, air and sea is stopped. Schools and shops closed. I've been out trying to secure things that are likely to disappear.
They've certainly whipped up the fear factor.
See you on the other side Babylon.
Maybe.

Re: What have you done today thread?
We have a little wooden seaside bungalow up on the north coast of NI (Benone, for Skub). After the last big storm I had to pop over and replace some cedar shingles off the roof. Very concerned about this one. I reckon they’ve only got bad since they gave them names. “Oxygen of publicity”?! - we avoid giving that to criminals!Skub wrote: Thu Jan 23, 2025 8:36 pm They are talking about the worst storm here in a century. 100mph winds etc. We got the government phone warning the lot. I've been to our new office in Nottingham. Nice building. It's over the road from a street food type Indian place, so lunch was lush

There's a Hooters in Nottingham, not that I'm suggesting your new office is a Hooters... is it?Sunny wrote: Thu Jan 23, 2025 9:27 pm I've been to our new office in Nottingham. Nice building. It's over the road from a street food type Indian place, so lunch was lush![]()
If you get to stay over you've got to go to Rock Shity.
