How much of a PITA is getting into, through and back out of France likely to be?

Portsmouth to Santander is about £730 return for camper and two adults. How much is your ferry, Fuel through France, Toll roads if using, Food and a nights stop over is taking two days.

Ferry was £208 return. We're going to Tarragona in northern Spain and we've given ourselves 3 clear days to get there. That should give us enough time to enjoy the drive with time to stop here and there etc. I was more thinking of how much of a pain has Brexit make crossing the borders? Are the Frenchies making us have it!

There are no borders in Europe for the general public. You'll just be a filthy foreigner wherever you are.

I always wanted a camper.

I rented a big one (six sleeper IIRC) with a bathroom with shower and toilet etc.

I went away with the kids for a week. We never use the shower or shat in the toilet, finding alternatives instead. Both were a bit small and crap looking; and I didn't want to empty a pot of stool.

After that week I wouldn't get a camper with a shower / toilet. Actually I probably wouldn't want one at all. Although my mistake was probably going with the kids. If I'd gone with some hot PAWG'y woman who liked spliffs and giving oral and putting everything into all the cupboards securely before driving away every time it could be pretty good. Although for the money couldn't you get a Bentley and a B&B?

Le Customs is a tiny bit more interested in rooting out booze and fags. Any form filling is entirely the fault of covids.

Right now I don't know.

I was more referring to the fact that if you're travelling from Spain into France by road there is no border any more (all the border posts are derelict). What you'd need to get out of France at the other end: I don't know.

Have a look at Newhaven Dieppe.
Firstly, customs on both sides there dgas.
Never had to open the garage up in all the times I've been through there. Crossing is a bit longer but you get further into France and can avoid that bit of peage outside Boulogne to Rouen.

Yes, we've done that crossing few times on Normany trips, but the wifes hates that crossing! Plus we maybe heading north of Paris to the parc natural outside Troyes?

I accidentally ended up on the Paris ring road once, I was using my TomTom Rider 400 satnag rather than a motorhome specific one.

There's a tunnel.

That is lower than the motorhome was.

I hit some plastic flaps, lit up a load of signs and got diverted off the ring road up a special exit ramp... slap bang in the middle of Paris.

At least I got to see the Eiffel tower.

I nearly didn't go and see it because the photos of the bodywork didn't look great, but I'm glad I did! People clean alage shit off with harsh chemicals and fade the crap out of the plastics! Anyway, as Bob says heat gun or chemical guy tire dressing gel stuff will sort it.

Came with more than I could need, but a lot of itis good stuff; Garmin Motorhome sat nav, awning tent,levelling blocks, rafter supports for the wind out awning, TV, DVD player, mega pegs etc blah. Its got enough plates, cups, glasses and cutlery to feed a Platoon! It was also rattling about and doing my nut in on the drive home, so a lot of that will be binned. I suspect the wife will want our own stuff anyway?

Took a while to get used to driving a van and a manual transmission as well! But it did drive lovely and would exceed the legal limit easily enough. It's based on a 2010 Fiat Ducato Mulitjet 100 which apparently has a timing chain and not cambelt? I obviously need to check this out to be sure, but good news if that's correct. If not it'll get one before it goes anywhere. Only don't 33k, but not a risk I'll take. Just had an oil service and 4 brand new tyres, which were fitted at his house and hadn't even been on the road until I drove it! No solar panels but you can plug one into the current system. I got him down enough to pay for one, so I'll look into that, that way we can use the aires on our way to Spain iN August.

My Sister is away in her camper Kent and has demanded we meet up tomorrow with her. She is roaming like a Jikey at the moment but intends to find a campsite somewhere near Whitstable? I assume the wife wont be pissed off that I bought it without her seeing/endorsing it? A bit lat enow anyway. But hopefully, she won't have the hump and sulk and we can give it an inaugural run tomorrow. I'm a happy chappy!
