I'd need to upgrade the garage lights.

Probably easier than installing air-con....

Right now there are three pairs of double 4ft flourescents for a total of 12 tubes, but they're old & half of them don't work owing to buggered ballasts etc. The plan is replace them all with 4ft LED strips.. & reassess.. which may lead to one of those hex rigs on the bike side of the garage (which also happens to be the side with the window)
Garage is about 24x26ft, I miss my old 20x50 :( What I need/want would be closer to 50x80

In other news, I found an OEM air filter so I can ditch the K&N garbage...which is probably why some pillock drilled four 1/4in holes in the airbox cover.

Air filter showed up... Not foam OEM, the fucker lied, it's an EMGO.. used bright green filter oil on it to make the bike faster. I'll fit that this weekend, also going to attempt to find the plastic welder to take care of holes in the filter cover.

Attempted to fit air filter, it disintegrated into foam crumbs, got my $$$ refunded on Ebay.

I'm not entirely sure WTF I did with the GPz11, but I took it for a test ride this afternoon & all* the issues are sorted.
It's running PERFECT 🙂
Engine stumbles: cured
Random warning lights: sorted
DFI warning light: sorted.
Random Tach readings: sorted

Running well enough to see 85 over (on a private road of course)
So, Canyon workout the day of this months LA area Kaw meet 🙂

*ok, it still has a headlight warning light, but the light works on high & low... so not exactly worried about that.

Maybe it just needed regular use. Old bikes don't like to be lying idle for long periods.

I'd put about 500 miles on it before the recent lay up, it had the tank off in the garage for at least two weeks while I faffed about with it. Not sure what the previous owner did, but it wasn't his everyday ride... & whoever he had go through it was basically a parts changer. I suspect he sold it because he couldn't quite get it running right.
Maybe the bike is just happy to be sharing a garage with the other two 1100's & get worked on by someone who bleeds green :)

The previous fill up I'd added some of that Rislone 2 in 1 tiger piss to the gas, that may had some bearing on the improvement. There was also a tad too much oil in it, but that got changed & filled with the right amount while it was down for the faffery. I also sorted some wiring. It's an absolute pleasure to hoon now :)

Snake oil: Doesn't work
Tiger Piss: Actually does work

Left it on the kickstand overnight & then put it on the main stand this morning. Just checked the oil level & it's right on the money. WOOT!!

Just been out on the GPz11 to see a mate about fixing up the ZX10 & the '83 GPz750 (oh, didn't I mention that one?), Then ran up the freeway from Palmdirt to Rosamond to pick up these from the APE facility :)

In other news:
The windows either side of the front doors at APE had three bullet holes in them. One on the right & the other two on the left, Holes installed on three different dates. Cops told them "probably random, not targeted"... uh huh.

Cleaned up some snarge residue on the GPz11 fork lowers & speedo drive doodad. Set the anti-dive adjusters to #1.

AHRMA vintage bike races/swap meet/show at Willow on Saturday & monthly Kaw meet at the RockStore on Sunday so gave the GPz11 a spiff, checked oil & tire pressure.

Rode it out to the GPz750 location yesterday, it seems happiest over 100mph... 8-) altho tbf, so are the ZRX11 & ZX11... :shhh:

Mate took a great pic of the GPz11 at Willow (also posted elsewhere). Just checked the mileage since I got it: 1017.5 miles total... so I need to call Hagerty this week as I think I I have a 1200 mile limit for the year, which renews on June 1st.
Total from new is 28,765.9.

I think I did about that in the first six months of owning the '83 GPz1100-A1 I bought new & then used for dispatching & thrashing all over Europe. I sold that one with 167k miles on it three years later to a mate "for parts". There wasn't an undamaged piece of bodywork on the bike & it looked like it had been dredged up from the Titanic.
I remember asking him a while later what parts he managed to salvage... His reply: "The oil filler cap".

I'd forgotten how badly those red wheels show the bloody dirt. They were spotless when the bike showed up on Dec 24th, I gave them a spiff before the most recent run to the RockStore to restore their spiffiness, but they look like crap again by the time I got home...
... rethinking my plan to powdercoat the '83 GPz750 wheels ELR/WRR pale gold, may go with the '84 black instead..
