eBays new system has BMP. No more PayPal and once you've sold something they hang onto your money for a few days even after you've dispatched your item. They also appear to have upped their fees to 13% in total, which i think prices them out of my usage now, although I don't know where else I would have sold that particular item. So I suppose it'd be more accurate to say i'll only use eBay as a last resort now.

FB market place FTW!

How welcoming.
Apart from bloody mindedness, is there a reason for it?
Maybe it was built for cars when cars were car sized instead of truck sized.
Great for ambos and fire appliances.
They're normally ambulance width (large-panel van ~= 2.05m), and often the restriction is only 'kerb-height' which is why any other panel van will get through.

What grips me more about Ebay is the worsening of the search function. I don't need them to streamline my search and remove items they think I don't want to see.

Doing my Tesco home delivery job, last night I had two people open the door to tell me they'd had a positive Covid test. I'll probably get told off for "FFS, why did you think opening the door would be a clever thing?".

That pisses me off too. I know exactly how searches work and I want it to do what I tell it. It sometimes work if you go into advanced settings.

Finding out that you cannot buy “strike anywhere” matches any more- even Swan Vestas are now safety matches. It is insignificant as I don’t need or even want some, but if I did decide to make a bolt banger, or casually light a match with my thumbnail , it has been decreed that I can’t…
That'll be the EU banning chemicals again.

I have had three 'interviews' for a job here -
1 - phone call with an HR person - went really well. Good chat, she progressed me to talking with an agent in the area who is the 'training manager' for the area
2 - met with the agent in an apartment in resort that he was photographing and measuring to put information forward to the client and hopefully selling. He's not a positive person but we seemed to get on ok. He did comment on the pink hair and asked if I thought it would be an issue. Obviously I don't or I wouldn't have had my hair pink for so long!!
3 - online conference type call with the area manager that makes the decisions on these things. We had a really good conversation except that early on she said she was concerned about my 'biker image and pink hair'
FFS - its the 2020's and I do realise that it's France who are not as 'up to date' as other countries but seriously. Also, a woman that's only seen me on a screen thinks I have a biker image??? I look less like a biker than anyone I know!! Yes I do talk about them sometimes but even in bike gear I don't have the 'scary biker image' (well, unless you've forced me to take evading action and it was your fault, I might be a bit scary then!!)
It almost makes me want to say 'shove it' but that would be seriously shooting myself in the foot. But it is really annoying. She took 2 -3 days longer than she said to give me an answer and before that she talked to the couple that put me forward - and raised the pink hair and biker image to them too??? So the delay is because she thinks those things will cause a problem??
It does make me want to borrow a REALLY big bike and turn up to the training riding it in full gear!!
But, for the sake of getting a job that should, in the end, give me some decent rewards, I need to turn up with just the pink hair, no bike and lots of smart/pretty dresses so I look even more 'normal' than usual!!!
But still, it's pissed me off quite a lot and has seriously taken the edge off what should be a celebratory day!!! Hey ho

Not remotely - that was my initial reaction (took a lot to not have a reaction at all during the interview when she brought it up!). I have decided that doing an awesome job and getting French clients 'despite the biker image and pink hair' will be revenge enough!!!

Whirlpool (Hotpoint)
Ordered a combination microwave from Curry's, not realising they were drop shipping. Delivery 4-5 days seemed a bit longer than usual but not too bad.
Email from Whirlpool asked me to book delivery online, didn't work so I phoned, booked the 25th and got a confirmation email. Nothing arrived so I called the support number in the email but that department only dealt with big stuff like cookers, they didn't know who could help. Called Curry's today who chased Whirlpool and were told the 25th was the day it was given to the courier, blatant lies and I still have no tracking number or delivery date.

That just goes with the territory I reckon. Unless folk know you, pink hair shouts 'rebel', it scares them and they think it'll scare their customers. I don't think it's necessarily true but you're talking fine margins when it comes to hiring and firing.
I tend to go on whether I like people rather than their image or even their expertise, but then I'm a 6'5" hippy in his 50s, I don't really have a leg to stand on.

I totally get the pink hair thing. Especially over here - really not many people with mad hair and I know that quite a few locals think it's weird - but they still talk to me!! But I mentioned bikes once early in the conversation because we were talking hobbies, so didn't talk about them much and she's never seem me so has zero idea about my 'image'!!
But I'm more calm now. Still think it's a pretty stupid thing to have a 'niggle' about but hey - I'll prove to her that my bad-girl-rebel-biker 'image' won't stop me!!
I'm very like you when meeting people. Was talking to a friend that works for the same company yesterday (they both work for the company and both are bikers!! Normal hair tho so obviously no biker image!) and we agreed that it's how people 'are', not how they look that counts and should be judged. I am rubbish at describing someone after I've met them because I'm usually looking at their eyes to see how they are talking (sounds weird but I know what I mean) and I see how they talk to others, like the waiter/ess!!! I'd be rubbish as a witness!!

I've seen a GP with pink hair and had by blood taken by someone with blue hair. I don't think it's all that rebellious these days. Or even at all.

An old dear I know (she is well into her 80s, perhaps 90s) has pink hair. She says she always wanted to do it, and now she is damm well going to do it.

You're totally right. The French are a bit more conservative and less acknowledging that the world has relaxed its suit and tie/twinset rules!! I know they think I'm weird because I have pink hair but I've never had any issues with that for jobs or work - before now!!

On a sort of related note, I do wonder why we still bother with the shirt and proper shoes rule at work. 95% of the time we all WFH now and you've seen me in my PJs in my living room....WGAS now?

The pandemic' has been a great leveller for those of us who've worked from home for donkeys years.
Yeah, so now you know you should sort out your terrible office videoconferencing systems, it's not me being shit at my end.
Yeah, you do have to make an extra effort to stay motivated when you WFH. Stop moaning about your workspace and sort it out. How come it's now important to get extra help?
Yeah, how do you like it when we get suspicious about "where you've been" all afternoon?
Standards have certainly slipped. Business attire was apparently appropriate for the office environment. As soon as the majority are at home they couldn't give a toss, they don't even bother with webcam most of the time.

I've found that if you switch your camera on most other people follow suit. Gotta wait to see who goes first though
I dunno why people blurr their backgrounds though. I did see my first corporate teams background the other day, I'm surprised it took that long TBH.
EDIT: Oh and one other weird that's resulted from all this - I have no fecking clue who half my colleagues are! More than half. I started my present job in September 2020 and have been 99% WFH. The times I've been into the office everyone is wearing a mask. I could pass the great majority of my colleagues in the street without recognising them.

When I was one of the only ones WFH, having cams on wasn't enforced - lucky because even after 15 years my missus still doesn't get that I'm in meetings all day every day - she'd wander in with her tatties out for a laugh (she'd be horrified if she thought she could be seen, but doesn't really get technology). Now we're all WFH and cams are encouraged I always blur the background and have my cam pointing oblique and away from the door, just in case

I haven't worn a suit to work (or smart clothes for that matter) since about 2000.
