Re: What have you done today thread?
Just had an argument with french customs.
Luckily my french is passable, otherwise I'd have been a bit lighter in the wallet dept.
Gave them our paperwork, bloke didn't recognise swmbo 'prolongation', then didn't recognise my paperwork.
Supervisor gets called, then the manager.
Putain refused to speak English, but I made my point in french, explaining that due to french bureaucracy moving at a glacial pace, and that my paperwork, although 3 years old does not have an expiry date, and therefore is legal.
I think they weren't sure of their legal position so eventually everything was stamped and away we go!
Bum was twitching a wee bit mind!

Re: What have you done today thread?
Got the train into work today. There's a fast one that gets me straight to London Bridge. Left a bit later than I would have liked, so jumped on a passing bus: £2
Got the station, and feck me, they've changed the time of that train, making it 10 mins later than it used to be.
Might as well grab a coffee: £3.70
In the waiting room there's a nice lady selling poppies for the Legion: £10.
£15 down and I've not even got into The Smoke yet.
I need to retire, this working business is bloody expensive.

Despite my moaning, I'm happy in my work*. If I jacked it in at 5pm, I'd have to have something lined up on Monday. When I was off after my cock-op I was climbing the walls with boredom within a week.

Now there was a disappointing film. Watched it all the way to the end, expecting him to bone her in the first class compartment, but...nothing.

I thought the donation amount was voluntary/discretionary? Or is the waiting room for you wealthy toffs only?gremlin wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2024 9:42 am Got the train into work today. Three quid suggested donation for the lapel pin. Though that was a bit tight, so I went a tenner.Taipan wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2024 11:15 amI thought the donation amount was voluntary/discretionary? Wait 'til the train enters a long tunnel, then you can have a grope and find out.

And lets face it, who'd pay for Gremlin's toenails.

There's a good point. Need to get my trotters polished for my trip to Vietnam in December. I reckon one big toenail done in the Union Jack and the other with the red background and yellow star of the Vietnamese flag would be a talking point.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Just walked past one of the many goldfish bowl meeting rooms, typical of modern offices. On the wall-mounted screen was a page from a Powerpoint presentation, entitled something along the lines of, 'Emphasising other job opportunities during redundancies'. Fuck me, HR dept, read your own memos on confidentiality.
Well, we all suspected the Grim Reapers were coming over from head office to collect some souls next week, and now we know. I'm not holding out any hope for a pay off.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Last day of the course today. God the last three days have been boring!! My exam/assessment was Tuesday and I was last, but no fukker waited for me! As a result I waited for the last person the last two days cos it's horrible finishing a long day and - no one! Today we all finished early and most of them went for a drink somewhere, but I think I've seen enough of most of them!! And the ones I want to keep in touch with, I will!
I have to go back in two weeks to retake the highway code, and we don't get the results of this week until next week
But I feel a lie in coming on for tomorrow!!
