Went to bed far too late last night

(chatting with a mate - fun but far too late!

) but still woke up to turn on the MotoGP!! Sadly I only saw the start, not even sure who wiggled his way off the line (and back down the pack a bit!)
Got up to go biking, not far but there's a reasonable chance I won't be able to get up to the Cols soon as in theory it should start snowing (crossing fingers), so I headed to the Col de Petit St Bernard. The clouds looked a bit forbidding, but I figured I could turn around if the weather was that bad!!
Anyway, lovely ride to the valley and part way up to the Col. It was misty/drizzly for the last 2 or 3kms to the Col, when I got there the cafe I like wasn't open, so I just turned around and went back to Bourg for coffee and chat then home for homework and catch up on the MotoGP!!
This is not the cafe I like, but I couldn't get to the sign that had the Col's name on it (Swiss biker parked in front of it and not moving!), so this is the best I could do!!
View wasn't bad once out of the drizzle!!

$800? That's actually not too bad from my last look at quality optical devices.
I think they're Canon 18x50's.

The Canon 18×50s with Image Stabilisation are ~£1500 here.
(Still cheap as chips compared with Swarovski!).

I had a breezy 10k walk in storm Ashley earlier, first storm of the autumn. The biggest damage I've noticed is a random upturned gazebo's turned up in a neighbours garden
The roads are covered in fallen leaves & debris so I'll not be riding the bike tomorrow.
As the storms go in alphabetical order I'm wondering how far down the alphabet we'll get this year

Today I have declared that late October - early November is to be known as 'Sore Arm Season'.
Ow!
(Moderna Covid booster yesterday, I feel like Richard Kimble's nemesis

).

Almost passed a test on European Driver hours regulations

Didn't revise properly at the weekend - forgot she'd even given us that sheet of questions

Hey ho
Then learnt French working hours/driving hours. And got deducted0.5 point for forgetting to write '(x1)' after the first elongated hours

!! But overall quite happy
Except of course, WTF have two different types of regs. And even the European hours aren't followed in France cos the night time driving hours aren't 4 hours, but 4.5 hours

FFS!!

Had to phone an instructor at the course (he got the start time wrong and was quite late!!) so got some ribbing for that! (Most of the folks in today's group didn't know I had his number

)
Told someone to shut up which resulted in him shouting at me every time I went to say "ok, I shouldn't have said that, but don't talk to me like I'm 5 about something you can't do as well as I can"!! Also ended up with him not speaking to me for the rest of the day. Much easier!
Bad thing - missing another funeral. I didn't even ask if it was family only as I couldn't get there. But a lovely friend I met on my Euro TDs (his son was riding, but this guy was just so kind) was cremated this morning. From my accident onwards he's always checked up on me to see how I'm doing and been so very supportive. I'll miss his FB updates on life over there and his little messages to check on me/cheer me up
There's not much I think is bad about living abroad, but not having the money to go back to the UK for funerals/weddings for the last few years has sucked big ones and this time, ok, probably couldn't have afforded it, but also wouldn't have been able to take the time off from the course
But, the late instructor made me laugh, so the balance was mostly ok!!

Today I finally got try monkfish tail, which was wrapped in Parma ham and service with crab Bon Bon’s! ‘Twas very nice indeed! Going back tonight for £10 burger & beer!

Been having a slight misfire on the FZS 600.
Replaced No 3 plug cap and trimmed back the HT lead,4 already done so I might as well order replacements for 1&2.
Some corrosion on the spring that sits between the terminal and 5k ohm resistor on the original caps probably the cause not helped by the fragile round spacer disintegrating.

Monkfish makes excellent fish kebabs.
(It's a good, solid texture so it cubes nicely, takes a lime based marinade well and doesn't soften up or flake off when grilled).

Yes, I’ve seen a lot of TV chefs using it for curries as well as it’s so solid. Always fancied trying it but they don’t have it at the Harvester, which is a shame as it’d be,lovely with some Red Devil or thousand island sauce in!

There's a reason they only use the tail.
