The amount of deer collisions in the UK is scary. It's one of the things that slows me down on a bike - buggers come from nowhere.

I tried to pay for my parking for the winter - turns out it's tomorrow I have to do that. But was a good little walk - I tried the hiking boots a friend gave me again, but this time laced them differently. Last time I tried them I had huge blisters on my heels :( :( This time my heels were fine  Now I guess I have to wear them a lot at home to get them to be a bit less stiff :o

Had a blood test, well the nurse came and took the blood. The 'normal' (for most people) vein didn't show, as it doesn't when someone with a needle comes near! So she went for side of the wrist - apparently the reason that hurts is there is a little nerve running near/on that vein  Anyway, all done fast.
And she complimented me on my improved French and said I don't have an English accent!! Damn that made me feel good!!! (I suspect I have a little bit of an accent, but it isn't obvious, so I'm happy!!) Just one more blood letting to have in the new year then I'm off to see the specialist over in Grenoble to make sure the infection has stayed away!!

Then did some sorting out of stuff here. Trying to make a better use of the lack of space, so moved things around, changed where the spice rack and the toaster go and made more space on the work surface for, well, working!! LOL Need to get 2 x 1m x 15cm bits of wood and change one shelf and add another. I've got the brackets, so should be relatively easy - hopefully!

Now to try and get motivated to do some baking. Have been weirdly lacking motivation for any sort of cooking since I got home. Very weird!!

Physio.

Now out of the rigid collar, in a soft foam one as neck muscles get used to not being supported.

Several pages of exercises.

Hopefully, back driving in a couple of months.

Hurrah! to all the above - very pleased. Four and a half months since the op, plus I was wearing the rigid collar from June.

Not today but yesterday; finally exchanged contracts for house purchase that was agreed back in August- the whole system is groaning under the pressure at the moment and estate agents and solicitors are bottom of my Christmas card list...

Found out my son can't come over for Boxing day now - his mum has tested positive for Covid so even though he's currently tested negative he will likely pick it up.
Amazing he made it through his term at university without getting it but as soon as he gets home he's at risk.

Pisser.....

Made three dozen pork snorker rolls. Used this recipe, but substituted Jimmy Deans Sage pork snorker meat for the regular kind. I'm actually very impressed with how they came out. Making an effort not to plow through a dozen of them with my coffee.

I will confess that aesthetic quality improved throughout the process.

In the weeks leading up to Christmas I usually meet my Dad for lunch at the Sun Inn, Dunsfold. It's a great pub, nice food and good location. Unfortunately they are closed for lunches at the moment so my Dad booked us a table somewhere else. This other location is a pub 20 minutes from me that I've never heard of. I arrive first, in the middle of a Friday lunchtime, and I'm the only one there. They have everything available on the menu which is highly suspicious (so it's all frozen, right?). I ordered the healthiest thing I could find, the only thing with vegetables. Ladies and gentleman, I give you my first and last Christmas Dinner Pizza.

I rolled a second coat of epoxy on two roof panels, stuck some fibreglass on my new battery tray and glued on the edge pieces.

Going to cut more plywood now for a couple of decorative panels - I need to cover a couple of old speaker holes. :(

Under the circumstances I feel vindicated for ordering it. I ate the whole thing including pudding, banoffee pie with squirty cream. If I was going to complain about anything, it would be the squirty cream

Christmas Dinner pizza is a tradition in our house!

Mrs D and I ways have leftovers pizza on Boxing Day. That particular one looks to be far too overloaded with topping, but in general it works really well IMO. Sprouts in particular are a winner, in the heat of the pizza oven (we've got a proper wood fired job in the garden) they go all 'crispy seaweed' like.

I suggested Boxing Day Christmas Dinner Samosas for this year and was met by some very confused looks from the family. I may still go with it.

Made and fitted a hex adapter for my nippy vice, and converted a drill chuck so it fits my jig borer. the latter will lose me a bit of accuracy but it'll speed up non precision jobs, and I suspect the machine's better than me. It's certainly got a higher tolerance.

Wear two pairs of socks with new boots, prevents blisters.
