Re: What have you done today thread?
Went for a long walk across the flats with my friend and his dog - really beautiful with grown out knee high grass.
Fitted a SAE lead to the NC so I can charge on the go ( if I ever get to go anywhere in this weather)
Booked some flights to Japan in October with a stopover in Hong Kong on the way back - not done this in a long time what with Covid.
Bought a ramp as we don’t have a dropped kerb - cheap one from eeeebayyy so let’s see.
Busy week ahead but 2 conferences to go to so not all bad - just wish the weather would get better

I adjusted the chain on my NC. First time I’d done the job in years - still have the 22mm spanner in my rucksack atm as I’m paranoid it’s too loose .Sunny wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2024 5:34 pm Mowed the meadow, finished just as the heavens opened and got half-drowned putting the mower away, but hey - could have been worse, I could have been half-way through
Tinkered with the bike - dug out the KettenMax and cleaned the chain properly, lubed and adjusted it, charged the tracker, and set up a Chain Monkey (an experiment to see if it makes adjusting the chain faster - it's always been a job I end up doing about four times before I get it right).
Messed with the log splitter to see if I could work out where/why the hydraulic system is leaking. Got rained off.

Went to a Speed Awareness Course.

Me frantically patting every pocket before admitting I had forgotten to bring my wallet. Cue making the walk of shame out of the room.

The speed awareness course I did was in the afternoon, I had to go to work in the morning. But things got a bit involved and I was pretty late leaving for the course. Probably should have been banned for the way I rode to get to the course just about on time!!

Re: What have you done today thread?
Hey-ho. It is what it is. I've rebooked an online course for tomorrow, as time is ticking to get it done. else I get the points. Another £30 fee to rebook.
I did have a photo of my license on my phone, which the nice lady apologetically explained they couldn't accept, had to be the actual license, etc. Tomorrow's online course involves a bit where I have to show my license to the camera in order to identify myself....

After being without a dentist for years ( Covid and then my dentist went private) I’ve finally got round to finding and registering with an NHS one.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Had a v nice hike this morning and ended by sitting having a bite to eat while watching a dog training class. I think it could become a new spectator sport.
Interesting to see how over-treating and compulsive clicking creates dogs that think bad behaviour brought under control generates a treat while dogs that only get the treat if they do something right first time didn't misbehave.
One or two dogs clearly thought it was owner training class (which I suppose it is really). You could almost sense them rolling their eyes thinking 'clockwise...c'mon, it's not that hard' or 'crack on, walk away then come back again, you can do it, I'll just wait here, don't worry, I won't be far away'.
Overall though I'd say the dogs enjoyed it.

Last one I had to do was in Basingstoke at 2pm, unfortunately I had to contest a parking fine in Gloucester at 1200, left at 1pm and still had time for a pre-sanctimonious lecture coffee with the bike gently tik-tik-tik-ing in the car parkNoggin wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2024 9:05 amThe speed awareness course I did was in the afternoon, I had to go to work in the morning. Re: What have you done today thread?
I'm in Kent having emptied M's apartment in Devon yesterday. We'd been there since last Monday packing, taking stuff to charity shops and recycling etc and let me tell you, if she ever gives off to me again about hoarding 'stuff' we're going to fall out!
Her brother is bringing the van round shortly and we'll empty it into storage.
We fly back to Turkey tomorrow with half the apartment in our suitcases. I'm away again on Thursday to a 3 night astronomy event 7000 ft up a hill.

It's only hoarding when it's someone else's stuff.

We did that with my late MIL's flat in Bridgnorth. Who knew you could fit so much vital 'stuff' into a really modest one-bed flat?
We ended up with an impromptu 'free stall' on market day to get rid of the items that the charity shops were too snooty about. Amusing how funny people-on-the-street are aboutbeing offered stuff for free.

Re: What have you done today thread?
It is. Owners need to be really clear in their mind, and to the dog, about what they're trying to achieve. And potential pitfalls.Count Steer wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2024 11:59 am One or two dogs clearly thought it was owner training class (which I suppose it is really).
For example:
Stage 1. Dog does unwanted activity. Dog follows instruction to stop, so is rewarded
Stage 2. Dog does unwanted activity, stops of own accord, looks at owner for reward.
Dog has trained owner.
We have a 5 month old Westie puppy. They're not renowned for being the brightest of dogs.
But, when he wants to, he now knows sit, stay, wait, safe, close, come, boom (circle an obstacle), drop, leave.
And he's leaned how to use stage 2 on us ...
Even bland can be a type of character

I do!! Well, a 13.7sqm studio!! Someone said the other day "have a really big clear out before you move" - well, if/when I move, everything I have will fit in a corner of any place I get (trying to get a one bed 'council' apartment!)!! I'll have sooooooo much space! LOL
For me, I know I've kept things I might not use, BUT, for almost 7 years I've not had space or physical ability to do the hobbies I used to do but didn't want to throw anything out incase I might have space/ability to do stuff again!!
But it's the size of a garage, so if anyone had to clear it out it's not the end of the world!
