We're in another full lockdown farce at the moment. It started last Thursday evening and runs until 19 May. Of course there are exemptions and of course, none of the rules make sense.
Alcohol sales banned during the lockdown - that lasted until today I believe.
Anyone can go out for essential items as the shops will be open every day except Sundays but the weekly market is not allowed. You can walk to the nearest shop but cannot use your car or motorcycle - so I went shopping because I only get one weeks worth of stuff at the Monday market and needed fruit and veg. I went on my electric scoot, passed the Jandarma 3 times and we just nodded to each other. Went to 2 supermarkets and the greengrocers. Plenty of people around but very few cars and whilst they ignored me I saw the Jandarma having a word with a bloke on a proper scooter.
No intercity travel from last friday - the roads into Marmaris were chocker block on Thursday and the village has filled up with Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir plate cars, and others.
At least some of the people that got stressed over last years lockdown seem to be less affected with this one. Maybe because they know when it'll finish -it's all because of Ramazan (Ramadan to the rest of the world) and Şeker Bayramı at the end of it. None of it makes much sense though and I think I'll go shopping again tomorrow. I might walk, it'll do me good.
