Alaways drank Estrella Damm or Cruzcampo in Spain but madri is far better and doesn’t have that tangy aftertaste they have! Lush! That said I rarely drink lager in Spain now I like sangria and have been drinking it here this afternoon! :D

My take has along been that most continental lagers sold in the UK are brewed somewhere off the M6.

Anyway, lager is mostly piss water, stout and porter are much better.

Red Stripe, that Jamaican beer, used to be brewed in Bedford. Fosters - 'the Australian word for beer*' is brewed in Manchester. Budweiser (brewed in Wales and Lancashire) isn't fit to wash whippets in...but the real Budvar stuff is v drinkable (Anheuser-Busch made them stop using the name Budweiser in the Americas but the European Court of Justice told them to do one over the dispute in Europe  ).

But most mass market lager is fizzy piss. You're better off with a glass of Knifey Moloko down the Korova. :D

*Some years ago I got some authentic Tooth KB beer in the UK - they were quite a long established Oz brewer -now defunct. It wasn't bad at all! Tooheys might disagree with that Fosters advertising line too.

If a beer from a furrin country is brewed in the UK, avoid it - is my rule. Staropramen and Budvar brewed in Czechia, Peroni and Moretti brewed in Italy and Leffe brewed by Belgian Monks are all fine and dandy by me..

I thought Moretti was brewed in the UK, like Estrella, Madri, Stella, Red Stripe, Kingfisher, Cobra and just about everything else ! Including the new “Spanish from Seville” one they are peddling at the moment

I'm off to Fronch next Friday.

I'm looking forward to some Grimbergen and Affligem, maybe even a Pelforth.

Surprisingly, we get some lovely Spanish beers here. Several brewed on the islands which will never be shipped to UK (spit)

The only Moretti I've tasted was bought in June in Genoa's railway station to wash down some cheese and olive Focaccia. It was lovely, as was the bread. I wouldn't touch Italian beer brewed in the UK with a bargepole.

I have a notoriously bad sense of smell and taste. To me all craft beers tasted like Larger mixed with Lilt !!

A lot of 'craft' beers should be called 'crafty' beers because they only look like they're made by smaller breweries. (Although they may have started small and then sold the brand). eg Camden Brewery is AB InBev, Brewdog is mahoosiv.

As for all these fancy IPAs, even the smell is off putting.

Not that I'm keeping any of them in business.

LOL how middle class you all are...

Next we'll be getting into Wine discussions, coffee beans that have been shit out of mongolian monkeys arses and using helium in your tyres.

Nitrogen in tyres.
Helium is very expensive, and its small molecular size means that it leaks out through the tyre very easily

;)
