Just been to CT the car prior to sale, beach volleyball was being shown in the waiting room.
Some VERY interesting camera angles being used by the french directors!

Well it's possible the Algerian is just a much better boxer.... but.. yeah i'm with you as well in terms of it not being 'right'Taipan wrote: Wed Jul 31, 2024 10:04 amThe clip I saw looked brutal. Someone wil get seriously hurt with this. Absolute disgrace.weeksy wrote: Wed Jul 31, 2024 8:29 amMMMmmmmm not seen this... but the whole concept of this makes my eyeballs twitch. There's some sports where i see transgender being a minor issue... and some where i see it as a MAJOR issue... Boxing is deffo in the latter.

Stop spreading lies! Neither of the two boxers you are alluding to are transgender, they have unusually high levels of testosterone.

Possibly they are intersex or just have unusually high testosterone or maybe they cheat and take steroids.Taipan wrote: Wed Jul 31, 2024 12:03 pmOkay, I just read something along that lines that they failed gender tests?![]()

Being the other sex affects the results of these tests.Taipan wrote: Wed Jul 31, 2024 12:03 pmOkay, I just read something along that lines that they failed gender tests?![]()

Everybody is one sex or the other, even with a disorder of sexual development.

High testosterone or taking steroids wouldn't give you XY chromosomes, which according to the International Boxing Association both of them have.JamJar wrote: Wed Jul 31, 2024 12:30 pmPossibly they are intersex or just have unusually high testosterone or maybe they cheat and take steroids.
It's about high time this sillyness was done away with, introduce an open category alongside male and female, and let them play their games to their hearts content

When that is tried, nobody enters the new category.MrLongbeard wrote: Wed Jul 31, 2024 1:10 pm

But OK, so they compete in their genetic sex category, or don't compete, the decisions they make have an impact on what they can or cannot do, the same as the rest of us.
Re: Olympics, who's watching ?
Who says they have XY chromosomes, all I have seen is that tested high for testosterone.MrLongbeard wrote: Wed Jul 31, 2024 1:10 pmHigh testosterone or taking steroids wouldn't give you XY chromosomes, which according to the International Boxing Association both of them have.

Re: Olympics, who's watching ?
It says it right there in my post who says they are XY, there may be some ambiguity over the IBA and their integrity from what I can see, but it wouldn't take much to prove / disprove it.JamJar wrote: Wed Jul 31, 2024 1:36 pmWho says they have XY chromosomes, all I have seen is that tested high for testosterone.MrLongbeard wrote: Wed Jul 31, 2024 1:10 pmHigh testosterone or taking steroids wouldn't give you XY chromosomes, which according to the International Boxing Association both of them have.JamJar wrote: Wed Jul 31, 2024 12:30 pm

Anyhow, this is dragging a sporting thread totally in the wrong direction, so I'm out before it gets canned.

Just watched the BBC highlights program.
Wow. I really did watch mouth wide open at the BMX freestyle. Awesome.
And that Frog can swim a bit.
2 gold medals and 2 Olympic records in 90 minutes

Re: Olympics, who's watching ?
So, Algerian boxer Imane Khelif has just taken the win against his first female opponent in the boxing after Angela Carini withdraws.
Shame on the Olympic boxing officials.
