Yup. Spain mainland is too hot this time of year.ChrisW wrote: ↑Wed May 03, 2023 8:07 pmI think you might need a track day, not a nipping to the shops middle-ground bike
And not flying over for Cadwell when it'll probably rain
Negotiating borrowing a GSXR1000 for UK. Just one more time down Craner Curves
And can get R1 for 500€ a day at Almeria or Jerez when it cools.

Blimey. He's offered to pick us up at Leeds/Bradford Airport and take us and bike to Cadwell
And hooked in some other dopey racer pals.
This is a goer. Need to lose weight to fit in my levvers

Trying to think of something that isn't a 300 or the same as your Gix. Have you ridden an MT09? The SP version might be worth a road test for you?

Re: Which One?
Only thing I can think of that will suit is a KTM Duke 890 R... It's 18kg over a 690 but still light for what it is. It's also got a VERY punchy motor (they often dyno power figures at the back wheel almost what is quoted at the crank!)... Chuck in stupendous brakes (Stylema's with a Brembo RCS Master cylinder on a bike weighing that little!!!), fully adjustable suspension and a decent electronics suite combined with quite a motard riding position, it's a hell of a lot of fun on twisty, bumpy roads...
So why didn't I buy one, and what did I buy instead...? I wanted something just a touch more refined and a more "conventional" naked sports bike riding experience... I bought a Ducati SFV2... It's ace!

I saw that bike over on Gran Canaria and does nothing for me really. It's only 5 Kgs less than my GSXR1000.mboy wrote: ↑Fri May 05, 2023 12:19 amOnly thing I can think of that will suit is a KTM Duke 890 R... It's 18kg over a 690 but still light for what it is. And if I have a fast bike, it needs a fairing. To me it's like a car with no windscreen.

Re: Which One?
I fear you are missing the point entirely with these bikes...
Sounds like you're a die hard sports bike fan, that lives somewhere where they're totally unsuitable for the roads (to be fair, that's anywhere in the world these days)... I used to be this way too, until I realised that naked bikes and Adventure Bikes not only make more sense on the roads, they're more fun too...
Cars without windscreens are usually more fun than cars with. Not wholly practical for sure, but more fun yes. Besides, you can put a little screen on it... I did. Makes enough difference that can cruise @ 80 in comfort at least.
Naked bikes are WAY more fun on the roads than sports bikes, and every bit as capable. For sure they're not as quick on a track, but you have your GSXR1000 already so...

Seems we're exact opposites. Never owned a naked bike since my CB900 in 1988.mboy wrote: ↑Fri May 05, 2023 12:24 pmI fear you are missing the point entirely with these bikes...

Sports bikes are perfect for me.
Plenty of superb roads here.
And only 30 mins over to Fuertaventura to find the best riding roads I've ever seen in the world.
Then a bit further to Gran Canaria and Tenerife.

Some epic tight and twisty roads there to be fair... Perfect for a Supermoto or a lightweight sporty naked bike! A GSXR1000 there...? Do you manage to get it out of 2nd gear often?
I absolutely adore sports bikes... Grew up lusting after RC30's, OW01's, 916's, RC45's etc... I've had my fair share of sports bikes over the years too, but since I opened my eyes to just how compromised sports bikes are on the road, I haven't looked back!
Good luck finding your unicorn anyway...

Re: Which One?
To be fair I'm not sure that a tuned 350LC was better than a CB900, but it was faster and handled better.
