Re: What bike?
At least I only had to drive a mile to see it.
I'm having thoughts about that Mille R again now.

He'll probably get it though, every day that bike sits there, it's gaining a wee bit in value, eventually someone will want it bad enough.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Sun May 02, 2021 5:45 pm The never ending fiasco of will he won't he buy a bike continues....
Went to look at the local GSXR...
It was exactly how you'd expect a reasonably looked after 30 odd year old bike to be.
It was mechanically sound (except for the slightly weeping fork seals). The engine sounded good and it was all very very stock. No bodges, not missing any trim/parts, etc..
Cosmetically it was tired, very tired. You can't see it in the pictures, but there's paint rubbed through on all the high points and the alloy has the blooming you'd expect. It's not that difficult to sort out... if the bike was a grand cheaper I'd be tempted. There's just too much to do on a bike he wants £4500 for. He hinted that he might negotiate, but I wouldn't expect more than £150 off the asking price.
I'm a bit disappointed, I was hoping it was going to be nicer and I'd have it in the garage tomogga.

Re: What bike?
It's not that far from me if that's any help. I'd offer to go and look at it but I can't before next weekend at the earliest.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Sun May 02, 2021 6:04 pm At least I only had to drive a mile to see it.

Re: What bike?
I think weepy fork seals are normal for a 30 year old bike, both my FZ and my FZR weep a little.
80s GSXRs have thin paint, both of mine wore through the paint at low mileages.

Re: What bike?
I'm going to break my own rule.
I'm going to look at something with wheels in Bradford.
You should never ever buy anything with wheels from Bradford, so I'm only going to look and get some inspiration.
I'm sure Ritebike are probably a bunch of robdog bastards, but they sure have a lot of bikes... including a GSXR1100 with the worst factory paint job ever and a Gen 1 Tuono.

Re: What bike?
I purchased an Aprilia RSV Mille from Bradford, guy stored it in a Big Yellow Storage place about 10 miles from his home!

I’ll tell you now and I’ll tell you briefly,
I don’t never want to go to Keighley,

Re: What bike?
I've paid top dollar for sure, but it's in better nick than when it left the factory.

Pink is a great colour for a 90s motorcycle.
Pictures to follow.
Are you coming to Cadwell for the VMCC thing in August?

Re: What bike?
I spent more than I wanted and its not the exact colour scheme I wanted (but it is growing on me).
It's proper Weeksy clean and only 12k!, I know they're not the original fasteners, the Suzuki ones were never that shiny, but it's what I would have done to it anyways.
It's got HiSports on it, which I don't think have been made for 20 years, so it's getting new boots, a full service, MOT and the clutch blead.
