I really miss it sometimes. They're not very fast, but they're very sorted. The suspension is way higher spec than anything else in the class (double wishbones all around) and they feel properly 'tight'. They say you can tell if a car is a good driver in the first 50yds of driving and I'd say the MX5 passes that test with flying colours.
I love ours - it’s a 2007 NC3. We’ve been all over in it. Had it about 8 years now and will keep it a while longer. Not fast, but they don’t need to be. Brilliant, brilliant little car.

I call ours Dougal cos it’s magic on roundabouts. :oops:

BBR in Brackley (just round the corner from Mercedes F1!) do loads of tuning bits for MX5s. Their turbo kit ok the mark 1 1.8 takes it up to ~240bhp.

What you really want though is a conversion by Flying Miata in the US, take out the cast iron Mazda engine and drop in an Aluminium 6 litre V8. Doesn't even change the weight :D.

My mate had a Mk1 for a decade, you name it, he did it, was a ringtool for many years.

He ran a couple of hundred quid Chinese turbo kit and a home built mega-squirt for years without issue.

Reminds me when I needed a new vacuum pump for the Landie and just put vacuum pump into eBay/Amazon (don't recall which), thinking it would give results for cars in my 'online garage' with them.
The site decided that automotive wasn't even the category it would choose.
