We set off for our usual Saturday enduro ride, but some bugger decided it would be a good idea to have a car rally 😉
Split the island in half, north and sarf.
We managed to get around it going north, but kept getting trapped going sarf.
We never use tarmac, but we do need to cross roads sometimes. But today we daren't chance crossing a live race track.
So had to watch the lunatics. Not a bad way to spend a sunny day. Still got a few hours riding in. 😉
Some nice sounding Porsche turbos in first short video

I fitted an Evotec tail tidy with no drama. On slight "humph" but that's it - I'm practically a pro mechanic now.

Took a 2012 Land Rover 90 Defender for a test drive. Dear lord, the non-existent brakes 😬

Took my bike for a spin, then dropped it off for it's first service (which it's having tomorrow, but it's forecast to piss it down all day 😶, unlike today).

Maxu delivery 9 Chinese jobber - the van.
When I took it back they said “yeah we’re having loads of trouble with these”
Up early tomorrow as her indoors is off to see her folks …

Did the Shakespeare Sonnet Walk. Fewer new places discovered this time as it was on our patch - they've usually been in Guildford.

The weather was kind.

Continued with the rationalisation of 'stuff' and decided I have accumulated far too many clothes/shoes etc so loads of decent stuff for the charity shop. Dump run too tomorrow for the non-clobber stuff.

Groundwork’s at chez moi today. Incredibly the spoil was good top soil and we were able to lose it in the garden and fill in some undulations etc. Great outcome and was humbled at people freely giving their time and strength to help me out.

They're not brill.
Mine is often borderline on the MOT test, I have to change the fluid an absolute minimum of once a year and keep on top of maintenance and cleaning of the disks and calibers. They're pretty rubbish but do work. I think the MC ratio isn't great so they feel wooden at the best of times.
I drove it off the forecourt, and went to brake, and there was solid pressure immediately - like no give at all - so I had to really exert pressure from the start, with minimal response 😥

It got its second owner in 2018, and has done 1200 miles since then, so maybe it just needs a good overhaul?

You both need to mtfu!
Just pop it into low range and let the engine braking do it or use both feet.......simples!
Last landy I had used drums all round......none of this new fangled disc stuff.

This was a hill start. I couldn't exactly use engine breaking 😆

And this was a 2012 model FFS

Rode halfway to work along the cycle path before getting on the train at Lewes (the last half of the path is right next to a very busy dual carriageway and is not a pleasant experience).

It is a glorious if chilly morning on the Sarf Dahns with a hint of ground frost in places.

That sounds like the servo has failed, I've driven much older LRs ands don't remember them being that bad.
It could be a poor choice of brake pads, they have got worse over the years but if someone fitted sintered pads it coud feel like that.

Interesting - cheers both.

It's annoying because the idea was to test drive one to see if we liked the driving experience, with the intention to then look for the 'right' one for us, so that's kind of buggered that up and I'm no further forwards 🫠

I've started loading the van with all the stuff that going with me on Wednesday.

Also I found a useful desktop in a skip, big enough to make some shed storage units for 600mm x 400mm eurocrates.

If you didn't roll it, then it's not a proper test drive. :D

Made a lasagne.

Cleared out the two ponds so we could put the fountains back on and the pump that pumps the water to the higher pond for the little waterfall.

Planted poppies, replanted the strawberry bushes and tried to work out why my raspberries keep dying on me when my Logan Berries, Blue Berries and Boysen Berries are thriving in the same spot with the same soil/light conditions.
We tried raspberries last year.... they were eaten almost instantly by the local fauna.
