The law says sex is a protected characteristic.

Also “gender reassignment.”

Then there’s sexual orientation;
age;
being married or in a civil partnership;
being pregnant or on maternity leave;
disability;
race including colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin;
religion or belief.

Schools have policies in place and staff with responsibilities to ensure anyone expressing opinions against minority groups are dealt with appropriately. This is good practice and the law.

Some old men do seem to be afraid of change; and incandescent with rage when someone pisses in what they believe to be the wrong pot. But they are anachronisms of no real relevance.

As Weeksy said, it's like using the term "Pakki". It was never good; but now it's absolutely not tolerated. And rightly so.
Lefty liberal nonsense.

Weeksy can get away with whatever he likes.

But for you to suggest that arguing against the mutilation of children is "like calling someone a Paki" is despicable beyond words.

Anything lefty liberal cunts don't like is called racist. Empty headed brainwashed bollocks.

You are dead to me.

That was a very specific case to describe a particular point and in no way was 'getting away' with anything. Whilst i do have more freedom than the rest of you in terms of what i can or cannot say, i still wouldn't cross lines of acceptability. The phrase is not a phrase i'd use in the world as a whole, but was the correct phrase for the point being made.

As for the gender discussion, i'm staying well the fuck out of this one :)

Some interesting reading for (so-called) conspiracy theorists who like to say "I told you so":

Final Report of the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic
https://oversight.house.gov/release/fin ... h-forward/

Some highlights:
COVID-19 most likely emerged from a laboratory in Wuhan, China
The “6 feet apart” social distancing recommendation ... was arbitrary and not based on science ... Dr. Fauci testified that the guidance, “sort of just appeared.”
There was no conclusive evidence that masks effectively protected [people] from COVID-19.
Prolonged lockdowns caused immeasurable harm to not only the American economy, but also to the mental and physical health of Americans, with a particularly negative effect on younger citizens. Rather than prioritizing the protection of the most vulnerable populations, federal and state government policies forced millions of Americans to forgo crucial elements of a healthy and financially sound life. Anybody remember the Great Barrington Declaration?
Contrary to what was promised, the COVID-19 vaccine did not stop the spread or transmission of the virus.
The FDA rushed approval of the COVID-19 vaccine... I was castigated several times for saying this so - I told you so
The “science” never justified prolonged school closures. Children were unlikely to contribute to the spread of COVID-19 or suffer severe illness or mortality...

Is the law 'right'? Opinions differ, but the 'good old days' were NOT good if you were perceived as different.

OTOH I can remember PIE. That was also touted as 'normal' . Be careful what you make legal , there are some twisted people just waiting to exploit loopholes.
PIE?

Paedophile Information Exchange.

An attempt, starting in 1970s, to get acceptance and influence for paedophiles. Harriet Harman notoriously championed them.

Apparently the Thompson's claim on his life insurance is being denied as his acute lead poisoning was a pre-existing condition.

TBH, I found that hard to believe - but it would appear to be partly true. She didn't champion them per se but supported some of their actions under civil liberties.
Which still appears to be a completely unacceptable position

They were quite high profile in the 70s. IIRC it was all about kids being naturally curious about sex, and it was wrong to put barriers like an age of consent in the way. No mention of aging men who fancied little girls or boys, that was never mentioned

@Noggin - what's the view in France? Do most people want to see the back of Macron or are people pissed off with the rival parties causing the current impasse? I'm guessing Barnier is seen as someone who had an impossible job and was collateral damage...?

Honestly, the first I heard was at lunch today and it was a comment along the lines of “France is in La merde”. But that’s from a French/Spanish!!

I’m the least political person and haven’t been home today or in resort. Will find out more tomorrow when I see locals!!

In general a lot of French seem to want to see the back of Macron, but I’m not sure enough want the same replacement.

Reading an article this morning that suggests that Barnier/Macron were expecting it and that, because the left and particularly the right/RN couldn't resist the opportunity to flex their muscles, whatever the economic damage they do, it will damage them, not the centrists. All with the next election in mind.

That all depends on whether, as an entity, the French voting population remain keen on economic stability and sense or whether enough of them have morphed into 'moon-on-a-stick-magic-money-tree' voters that believe the promises of either wing without wondering where the money will come from.

Not helped either by the perception that Macron is an aloof snob and too big for his boots/fancy shoes.

Interesting temps.

Macron has also made it plain that he'll have to be dragged kicking and screaming from the Elysee Palace. There is no way he'll step down ahead of the due date.

OK. I've been thinking about this stinky bait. I'm not incandescent with rage, but I am an old man so I'll bite.

A bald man in a wig is not a man with a full head of hair, he's a bald man in a wig and is often seen as a valid target for mockery. But a bald man in a wig and a dress can now claim to be a woman and must be believed. Non believers are called bigots or transphobes.

What's the difference? And why are we all expected to believe this nonsense.

That sort of shit was the public message the Paedophile Information Exchange started with.
