Not convinced either made a massive difference lol. I can't adjust the clutch bite point any more as far as i can tell.... It has moved it inwards, but it's not night and day.
The throttle play, again, it's certainly better... but i wasn't terribly unhappy with it as it was

Agreed on the XSR controls, I thought that when I rode it and couldn't live with them like that, those aspects can be improved/sorted , but you'll never make an XSR/MT09 feel like an 890 handling-wise, whatever you do IMO.
They are distinctly different bikes in physical size and weight, and as I think @couchy said, the XSR/MT09 do seem to have long forks / high bottom yoke, and I'm no expert, but I suspect that/the whole layout, geometry, weight distribution etc has a significant effect on how it feels- bottom line is it really hasn't been designed with the same primary aim as the 890 (and 790 before) has been

My five-bob's worth, FWIW is that I think you've found the bike that suits you best, and you love the most and that's the XSR.
Yep you'll ride other bikes that you might think have this or that bit better, but that doesn't mean you can necessarily make the XSR as good as any other bike in every aspect you wish and effectively " have it all "

I am I think very lucky as I have got my " have it all" bike with the 890R though- seriously - questionably gash/chavvy styling aside, its everything I want from a bike, for what my use it ( assuming of course it is reliable and doesn't disappoint in that respect )

Not going to argue with any of that... will be interested to get your input on the controls now, even if just in the paddock if you don't fancy a session on it. After both you and Kev riding it i'm not convinced either of you have a massive deisre to try it on track

It's not what I'd choose as a track bike but it wasn't ever meant to be I think- definitely a fun bike though and yeah, I'd love a go

Agree and i'm not trying to make it into one, i only do 1-3 days a year so as long as it's acceptable (which it already is) then it's more about it's road manners i think/care about.

I take this back... that's made it a lot more lively !!! lol. Yeah honest... I'm pretty shocked... it also shows how often i must go from closed throttle to open, just a junction a turn, etc.... Obviously when you're cracking on it's no different but coming from a closed throttle it's certainly noticable !

It always strikes me as funny how much you notice this stuff. Maybe funny is the wrong word - interesting I suppose.

In my car I can adjust the throttle sensitivity really easily, it's just a button on the dash. When I change it I notice for about a minute at most, then my brain 'dials it out'. It's the same with clutch adjustments etc, I basically don't care! It just takes me a minute at most to get back to where I was. As long as it's not broken and I still have a full range of control I essentially DGAS. I've tried to give a shit, but my brain just doesn't co-operate

I'm rubbish at noticing things that happen over time though. If Kev and Welsh Muffin hadn't noticed it, i'd never have. Although at times i thought the throttle response seemed a bit on-off, but i thought that was just me being a bit incompetent and put it down to me... but maybe it was a little bit down to the bike.

I'm sure i'll be used to it by the time i've done my next ride, i only did 3 miles as the rain was due.

We all do it. It's a coping mechanism of da brian.

Tyres are a great example.

We put on a new set and it's WOW!

The loss of the wow factor isn't noticed because it happens gradually,until we put on a new set,then it's WOW.

Tyres are one thing i'm very picky on.. i've binned plenty of rubber a LONG time before others would. Was reading a thread on the FZ09/XSR forum, people are talking about 8000kms from a pair... i threw my last pair in the bin at 2200km... this pair may make 3000.

I may have mentioned this before.... but the difference between STD and A mode is ridiculous on these things !!! Like night and day type ridiculous !

HAd to take a parcel into town and for some reason it was in A mode.... you really notice it right away ! Awesome .

Just read the 60 pages. Over the winter will probably do the shock and fork cartridge/spring change, looking at the Bitubo range (cheaper than buying and running an FJR for longer trips)
Just like you need to decide on an exhaust, the Leo Vince "biscuit box" as someone on here described it seems favorite at the mo, also considering a Hindle Evo Megaphone, then an ECU flash, did you do the AIS blanking when you had yours flashed or didn't need to as you kept the stock exhaust with the cat??

Didn't touch AIS matey. Wasn't aware it was a thing. With the remap it runs absolutely lovely. I stopped thinking about the exhaust a long time ago and it's just happy as it is now, i honestly can't think of anything i'd change, unless i went crazy and added the down blipper but at £700 i don't really see that as an option for me.

Rode the XSR 900 today out on local roads and you know what, it's still bloody awesome. Over the weekend on track at Pembrey it disappointed me just a little, but riding it today, I'm 99% sure the disappointment came from the leathers not allowing me to move about like I want on the bike. With my Resurgence jeans on today I can do the proper stick insect thing again and feel more at home. Obviously on the road I don't need to do it, but I can.
But riding it, it was just superb as always.

Best leathers I've ever had. Didn't need any bedding in, fit like a glove (if you're my kind of shape).

When the first set had to be cut off I ordered another set without looking at anything else.

I tried ALOT of leathers when I bought the first set and the Spidi's just beat out the Held Slade fit wise and felt much more premium than the Alpinestars Atems.

I need to come up with a funding plan really first mate, but thanks for the idea. We've just had an insanely expensive 4 days, like £1500+ expensive and then on top of that I needed to lob the wife £300 for the helmet. So finding £800 for a suit, well that's a minor issue shall we say.
There's also the fact that in a trackday context I'm more a 2 sessions and done guy, even Friday I did only 1 session and that was all I needed to make me happy, Sat was 4 but I'd have been ok with 2.
It's not that I don't like track stuff but it's no biggy for me either way, so chucking £800 at a suit seems a bit crazy.

I'm not sure what the answer is here, but let's not worry too much about it.

So her NXR was too big. I needed a 2nd helmet, she needed a new helmet.
So the answer was she bought a new one and I bought hers.
