eBay. I searched for bronze watches and there she was in all her £118 splendour!

Re: The Official Watch Thread.
Does anyone know what import taxes and duty I would actually pay on say a £1000 watch from the States?

Re: The Official Watch Thread.
A deal was done and the watch is mine. Not seen a watch i've really wanted for a long, long time. Absolutely buzzing.

Currently wearing an Ultra 2, which I'm not sure of size, but I think it's close to the 47mm of this, so it shouldn't look too out of place on my wrist?

Re: The Official Watch Thread.
I got an email saying it had been delivered!
Well, not to me it hasn't! Checked the tracking which says it was delivered in Chicago IL!
Turns out thats eBay's international hub in America, and everything goes there for onward distribution! Phew!
Bizarrely as i'm typing this, I get another email with updated tracking and ist on its way to Stanstead.

Got the email below, but I haven't paid any duties yet? Does anyone know how and when I pay them?

I think DHL will collect them from you before they hand over your watch.

Re: The Official Watch Thread.
The hype around that plastic Royal Oak shaped thing is ridiculous, but I looked on eBay and they're selling for massive premiums, apparently someone paid £16k for one.
I wish I'd have known, I could have had a couple pre-release if I wanted and would have happily punted them on at £15k each.
I politely declined as I thought they looked shit.

I didn't think the market was there anymore but maybe it's time to sell some watches now, the only watch I ever wear these days is my no date Submariner but at home I rarely ever wear a watch.

When you've bought the next watch, tell them why it wasn't with them. Doesn't bode well for post-sales support either.gremlin wrote: Tue Mar 24, 2026 12:30 pm
I know where I'd rather shop when I decide to buy another watch.
