Colleague of Mrs ss worked remotely in Portugal...

Someone at my place tried that in the pandemic, shortly before he was made redundant. In theory it was possible but in practice wasn't so good.

Back home and chilling with an Estrella after the first ride of the year today on the Rockster. Happy happy happy to be back on my bike!

New Nitron shocks felt very good, maybe a little sensitive, a little teetery, but the tyre pressures might have been a bit high, or the pre-load a little harsh.

Battery doesn't seem to be maintaining its charge though, so time for a replacement, not a surprise, it's a few years old now.

We have (mains ) water ...central heating, interweb (EE 25mbs, all round views. The down side is a 600 metre track, but I hve been up and down on bikes. 13 miles from Aber....at the tail of the Mach loop. Nearest neighbour (apart from sheep) quarter of a mile.

I visit the Mach area a few times a year normally - great roads, a couple of my favourites

I'm on the overnight bus heading for Istanbul and I've just completed my UK Passenger Locator Form. Tomorrow I'm flying into Gatwick as M's Dad died Friday evening and she needs some support.

Her Dad was 81 and had Mesothelioma - cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. It's usually terminal and has to be in the top 5 worst ways to die from an illness. IRest peacefully now Joe.

I forgot to mention a very large garage/ shed/ workshop with power and a woodburner...and a low local crime rate.

There's a Saharan dust cloud over Spain at the moment, it's like something from a martian sci-fi film. There is no colour except a reddish hue, a very bizarre thing.

You still kipping in the van? How is that going long term? Few people on our self build group live in there vans full time what gets me wondering of cabin fever can be an issue. Probably less chance with you being in a place with better weather than the UK just now.

Having done that, no, cabin fever is the last thing you get because you can drive to a new location as often as you like and get completely different views. You're outside more than you are inside, something that's hard to get your head around when you live in the UK.

Having done that, no, cabin fever is the last thing you get because you can drive to a new location as often as you like and get completely different views. You're outside more than you are inside, something that's hard to get your head around when you live in the UK.

Exactly as Rockburner says, more time out of the van than in it and move around. We've been in Spain since Jan 5th which sort of makes the outside stuff very easy to do. We're also looking at property here to use a base initially then move over full time when the driving license stuff gets sorted out (since Brexit you can't change a UK license for a Spanish one, you have to take the Spanish driving test after 6 months. Annoying as a Spanish license can be exchanged for a UK one).

I get the outside more than in thing. Even if its raining and i am only stopped for one night i want the awing up just for that more space feel. Not a wind out one but even the ones that slot into a runner can be out um in just over 5 minutes.



We are away three weeks next year what is nothing to you guys but its 8/9 days more than we are used to and meeting no one we know for the first time also. Just a bit worried i kill the wife and leave the body in Croatian well

I've got a wind out awning as well as as reassuringly expensive pump up, drive away thing wifey insisted on having. I've used the wind out twice, once to see if worked and once to show my dad, I'm sure it'll come in handy in the summer. The pump up thing is taking up a huge amount of luggage space and pisses me off every time I open the back door. We'll be back in England in May and if I can't sell it I'll bin it, if she hadn't paid so much for it I would have binned it already. Campsites in Europe generally are nowhere near as generous with their pitch space as UK ones, so very little chance to put an awning up. If you use aires there's no chance at all. She knew this before buying the thing but insisted it came away with us.
