Re: The Official Pleasing Purchase Thread
Finally got around to ordering a new windscreen for the moho!
After the ins co. schtum up their share, it will only have cost me £700.
Which as i was expecting a £2k bill, is a result.
The heki 3 panel (€458) arrived today, so its roof time tomorrow.
Might actually get to spend a weekend away in it soon!
Might nip over to la plagne.....again

Re: The Official Pleasing Purchase Thread
Decided I wanted some dark blue brogues.
Saw some on the Loakes website, so went out shopping to try and find some. Clinkards where I usually buy them from don't list the blue ones.
I found some similar ones in Dune, but they didn't have them in size 12.
Came home disappointed.
The wife then fired up the tinternets and the Loakes factory shop website had a pair in my size, for £160 less than RRP. Result.

Re: The Official Pleasing Purchase Thread
I was looking at my Burgundy Loakes thinking how I'd like another pair in a different colour, I'm not really a black or tan kind of person.... and the blue matches the pin strip on my Boss suit.

MoniMoto tracker. Moving the bike around in the garden sets it off. Love the way it has an independent power supply too. Just bought another for my new (to me) car. Wish i'd had one on my x-adv!

Re: The Official Pleasing Purchase Thread
My pleasing purchase today was....absolutely nothing!
(Went to the Craft in Focus + Desire - Jewellery and Silversmithing Fair at Wisley. Managed to see everything and still extract wife without spending a bean apart from coffees and pain au raisins. Result! Also found a back lanes way out that meant didn't have to loop around the M25 J10 interchange to get heading south...filed in the memory bank for future reference).

Aye, gone 4x4 instead of convertible. First time in a good few years I wont have a convertible on the drive. Expect a blistering summer next year!

Re: The Official Pleasing Purchase Thread
Took advantage of the Veteran's Day deals at El Casa Cheapo yesterday on Dewalt stuff.
Picked up:
6Ah 20V battery, 4Ah 20V battery, charger & a tool bag for the price of just the 6Ah 20V battery..... & they gave me a free 20V SDS Plus drill.
So all told, about $600 worth of tools for $200. Bargain.
Last time I did this I picked up a 20V drill, 20V impact, charger, 2x 2Ah 20V batteries & tool bag for $99 & they gave me a free 20V buzzy tool (oscillating doodad).
I need to pick up the adapter spod that allows you to use the 20V batteries on the older 18V tools.

Army surplus for cheap Gore Tex
Just bought an RAF, plain blue Gore Tex, X-short rain coat, no hood £33 and a combat jacket "Gore Tex" inner liner for £17. For the liner the Gore Tex is in quotes so I'm guessing that it's not - normal retailers wouldn't get away with that but for £17 I'm willing to take a chance.

Re: The Official Pleasing Purchase Thread
One of the things 'on the High Street' that I miss are the old 'Army Stores' that used to be quite common. When I lived in that London I got loads of kit from the much missed Laurence Corner (Drummond Street/Hampstead Road). It closed after 57 years but used to have military kit and all sorts, from Italian police bike jackets to military issue aviator sunglasses (they had the wire loop ear fitting so they didn't fall off if you were upside down ). Some of the staff set up Squadron HQ but they seem to be hipster types charging fashion prices for kit Edit: Squadron HQ are kaput too.Trinity765 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 11, 2022 7:23 am Army surplus for cheap Gore Tex

Guessing, though, with general reduction in forces there's less surplus?

Surplus? Isn't the MoD Procurement Executive mission statement 'To Ensure Oversupply'.Horse wrote: ↑Fri Nov 11, 2022 7:56 am https://www.silvermans.co.uk/

Re: The Official Pleasing Purchase Thread
Pretty sure I never want to wear shoes that remind me of going to school.
I thought loakes were high end? I'm wearing work boots more expensive than that.
